IT IS OFFICIAL ASSINIBOIA NELSON GM WITH THE HELP OF THE ASSINIBOIA MASONIC LODGE IS NOW PROVIDING A COURTESY VEHICLE FOR SHUTTLE LINK UP...... "Local Communities Working Together For the Benefit Of All". The Gravelbourg Cares Wellness Shuttle is NOW offering rides to people from Assiniboia needing to get to medical appointments in Moose Jaw, and Regina. The local Masonic Lodge approached the Gravelbourg organization to discuss a collaboration, and the shuttle coordinators ea...gerly developed a relationship beneficial to all. The Masons would like to help local ASSINIBOIA people take the Gravelbourg shuttle by offering them a lift to meet the Gravelbourg vehicle part way, at the intersection of Highways 2 and 43 (the Gravelbourg turn-off). For his part, Curtis Nelson has offered a courtesy vehicle for the link-up project. The Gravelbourg Wellness Shuttle has been operating for approximately 2 years, and more than 152 riders have taken it to medical appointments in Regina, Moose Jaw and Swift Current. Ridership was increasing steadily through 2020, but the service was forced to shut down for 3 months because of the COVID pandemic. It has been back in service since June 2020. The Gravelbourg Cares van and service has been re-arranged and modified to abide by COVID health directives. A shuttle ride to Moose Jaw from Gravelbourg calls for a suggested donation of 40$ (return trip) while the fee for a Regina trip is 50$. Receipts are issued and the cost can be included in the medical deductions portion of income taxes. To arrange a ride please call the dispatch at 306-650-7333. Assiniboia’s Masonic Lodge approached the Gravelbourg organization in 2020 pre-pandemic to discuss a collaboration with the shuttle coordinators. The Shuttle with the help of Nelson GM and the Assiniboia Masonic Lodge have now developed a much desired relationship/service beneficial to all.

Southland Co-op is pleased to contribute $1,000 to the Gravelbourg Cares Shuttle Service, to allow them to continue to provide non-emergency, wellness shuttle service to people for medical services that are not available locally. A "Shuttle Link up" is now available for the Assiniboia area! To those of you in our community and area that have been following us Gravelbourg Cares will be phoning this February 2021 in an effort to raise funds usually provided by our Annual Family Supper and Dance Fundraiser. Unfortunately this annual family event has been cancelled this year because of Covid. Although the fundraiser is instrumental to our success, we are sustainable, still operational and still transporting riders regularly to their medical/specialist appointments in cities that surround our area. This quest for additional funds will help us offset our annual expenses and build for a better tomorrow. Thank you for your understanding and support. Gravelbourg Medical Wellness Shuttle, is a volunteer-run federal charity. All monetary donations to support our service will receive a federally recognized tax receipt.

The Gravelbourg Shuttle is in its 16th month of operation. It was built from the bottom up by volunteers wanting to help people of all ages with health issues that needed to be dealt with outside our community. This is working thanks to our rider support as well as the amazing support from local and out of town business donors, service clubs, private citizens and the Town of Gravelbourg that donated $25,000 towards the shuttle purchase. The shuttle is attracting more passengers monthly and can be seen on an average of 15 times per month making trips to the cities. No matter your age, when you deal with medical issues, city driving, parking and road conditions - the stress adds up. The shuttle takes that stress away with home pick ups and drop offs at your appointment door. It doesn’t get much easier. Out-of-town riders are picked up and dropped off at HB Junction, and Assiniboia riders at the junction of Hwys. 2 and 43. Wellness also means more than just medical appointments. Sometimes one just needs a mental break. Before covid we provided this by joining together families living apart and offering wellness excursions to local and out-of-town events. The Masons would like to help local people take the Gravelbourg shuttle by offering them a lift to meet the Gravelbourg vehicle part way, likely at the intersection of Highways 2 and 43 (the Gravelbourg turn-off). The Tribune recently carried a great update on the resumption of the Gravelbourg Cares Shuttle Service during Covid19. Thank you Paul for supporting us so well! As a result Gravelbourg Cares wishes to give a quick shout out and THANK YOU to Aldeneil Espanola and Toto & Co. Iron Works for designing, and installing the much needed plexiglass barrier between our volunteer drivers and our passengers. His attention to detail and work done is amazing. We highly recommend his wor...k. In addition we wish to thank the Town of Gravelbourg for providing the funds to make this plexiglass barrier possible. As always they continue to make our service viable. To all our amazing drivers and dispatchers who continue to volunteer their skills during these trying times we commend YOU! Southern Saskatchewan cases are rising time for diligence.....Better to error on the side of safety by staying the 2 meters distance, constant hand washing, and not touching your face. Ideally be a good Samaritan and where a mask when shopping or in crowds. Food for thought.
