This past Sunday there was a memorial held in Montreal for Raymond Akira Betts, a Canadian artist who passed away back in April. The event, held in the gymnasium of Westmount High School, with the backdrop of a large mural Akira had painted back in 1989 (aptly entitled "Gymnasium"), was attended by over a hundred people, including dozens of graffiti writers and artists, who came out to pay their respects to this unique sole. This is a little memorial video that played at the event, which features some great photos of the man as well as his art. RIP, Akira.
