On April 16, 2020, the Government of Saskatchewan enacted emergency regulations with respect to the execution of Wills which allow for the remote execution of a Will via electronic means in certain circumstances. Last Friday we were delighted to take part in the Call to the Bar Ceremony that was held at the Court of Queen's Bench in Moose Jaw where Darcy Dumont of our firm was formally presented to Court of Queen's Bench. Darcy signed the Roll of the Law Society of Saskatchewan and officially became a lawyer in June. The Call to the Bar Ceremony marks the official welcoming of Darcy into the legal community. Featured in today's firm spotlight is Kenneth M. Cornea! Mr. Cornea was born at Assiniboia, Saskatchewan and graduated from Briercrest High School in 1970. Mr. Cornea attended the University of Regina where he graduated with a Bachelor of Administration with Great Distinction in 1978. He then attended the University of Saskatchewan and completed his Bachelor of Laws in 1981. Mr. Cornea was articled to R.J. Rushford, Q.C., and was called to the Bar in 1982. He also became... a partner in Grayson & Company in 1982. Mr. Cornea is a member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan and of the Canadian Bar Association. He was a founding member and past Director of the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyer’s Association. He was a past member of the Kinsmen Club of Moose Jaw and had served as Chairman on the Board of Directors at the combined Providence Hospital / St. Anthony’s Home Board. Featured in today's firm spotlight is Ryan Hrechka! Ryan was born and raised in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, attended Ross School and graduated from Central Collegiate in 1996. Ryan obtained a bachelor’s degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology from the University of Saskatchewan in 2000 and went on to obtain his Law degree in 2003. Ryan has practiced law continually since then, joining Grayson & Company in 2009 and becoming a partner in 2010. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from Obafemi Awolowo, in 1993 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1995. Idowu worked as in-house counsel and corporate trainer, for the Government of Botswana, from 1997 through 2006. In 2007 she obtained her Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of the Pacific, McGeroge School of Law, Sacramento, California, U.S.A. I...dowu immigrated to Canada in 2012 and completed her Canadian law accreditation and was called to the Saskatchewan Bar in September 2014. Meet Darcy J. Dumont! Darcy was raised on a farm near Lafleche, Saskatchewan. After graduating from Lafleche Central School in 2011, he attended Campion College at the University of Regina where he majored in Justice Studies and received his Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in 2015. Darcy then attended the College of Law at the University of Saskatchewan and received his Juris Doctor with Distinction in 2018. Darcy served on the Campion College Students’ Union at the Univers...ity of Regina and the Law Students’ Association, University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union, and College of Law’s Small Urban and Rural Committee while attending the University of Saskatchewan.
