Fundraising Challenge! The Great Village Volunteer Fire Brigade is one of the cornerstones of our community. They are our first responders, our friends and fami...ly, and the people we count on to step up in many situations around our area. As many locals will already know, the GV Fire Brigade was unable to host its main annual fundraiser (the annual fireman's auction) due to COVID restrictions and logistical difficulties. So we challenge YOU to give what you can, to an organization that always gives so much to us. Starting today, until Friday December 18th - Lowland Gardens will dollar match any donations given to the Great Village Volunteer Fire Brigade, up to $1,500. Donations can be mailed or brought in to the fire station, or can be done through e-transfer to [email protected]

An excellent reminder from Enfield Fire. Great Village covers approximately 20KM of HWY 104. We, along with neighbouring departments, EHS, Towing Companies, RCMP, Department of highways, are frequently called to the 104 for incidents in poor weather conditions. Unfortunately, what Enfield has shown here is very common.
The Truro Fire Service would like to remind everyone that Fire Prevention is important 365 days a year.
https://www.cbc.ca//hurricane-dorian-storm-preparation-1.5 Please take time to prepare for the upcoming weather. Heavy rain and high winds will create many hazards including down power lines. If you see a damaged or fallen power line, stay at least 10 metres away and call 911 or your local emergency services immediately.... Treat all downed lines as if they were energized. Stay away from them and anything that they touch, including puddles of water, flooded structures, and fences (especially metal fences). Never try to move a downed power line with any object. For example, a non-conductive material like wood can have moisture in it that acts as a conductor or the line could slide down the object and onto you. Do not try to repair damaged power lines or remove tree limbs from power lines Avoid crews when they are working on power lines. Stay clear of low or sagging power lines. Keep children inside, and pets on a leash, to prevent accidental contact.

Please Join us in congratulating Terri-Lynn Kinsman and Terry Francis on recently completing the MFR(Medical First Responder) training. Great Village and District Fire Brigade responds to over 110 calls annually. These calls range from Medicals to motor vehicle accidents to fires. Having trained MFR's at these calls is not only a great asset to us but our entire community. Medical First Responders are volunteers throughout the province trained to provide advanced medical ...First Aid to the residents of their communities. In addition, all registered EHS MFR agencies have at least one Automatic Electronic Defibrillator (AED) so that they can provide early defibrillation before the paramedics arrive on scene. If you have any interest in becoming an MFR or learning more about it we meet every Wednesday at the Great Village Fire hall 7PM or you can contact us through our FB page.
