How do I get "back on track" after Christmas? . FIRST - a cleanse, or a certain extreme approach to your nutrition is NOT the answer (despite what the internet might tell you). . Instead, start with just ONE small healthy habit, or even one simple meal. Just like the rest of you, we enjoy treats and sugar, and holiday festivities. And just like you, we know the struggle to get back to regular, healthy, nourishing meals sometimes. So here are some tips... Start small - avoid any extremes that feel restrictive Start with hydration - drink up! Water, water, water! Veggies a few times a day Freeze left over treats and goodies Have fresh fruit and veggies available and prepped Plan your next indulgence - this one might seem counterintuitive, but it's good for our brains to remember that just because we are attempting to get back on track with our eating, doesn't mean we can't ever enjoy treats again! Tasty Tip Tuesday! The week of Christmas always seems to bring to the surface our greatest insecurities around food. There can be a battle between wanting to enjoy every ounce of what Christmas has to offer, and not wanting to wake up on Boxing Day with a stomach ache and feelings of regret and guilt. . We believe that food and guilt don't belong in the same sentence. Nor does restriction. That is why we encourage our clients to enjoy the food they love, slowly, and in mo...deration. Meet Julie Julie is an amazing human being. Here is her story . Over the last few years, I have suffered from depression and because of this, my weight kept going up. I work 4 days a week, am a wife, a mother of two, and we are sheep farmers. 3 years ago I started on a path to get my Masters in the Nurse Practitioner stream. The stress of trying to manage all of this created the image that I had no time to exercise or to eat healthy. Always on the run, always needing to... get something else done, I forgot along the way to take time for me. I had been suffering from back problems and was worried about exercising making them worse. When I did my No Sweat intro in January, they recommended the Nutrition program for me. I have been down this road before, high weight, inactive, and depressed. I love food. Growing up in a restaurant will do that to you. When I met with Jilisa, I hesitated to sign up. I had no idea what I needed to do. But before I left that room, I decided to jump in and sign up. In April, at the beginning of all this craziness, I signed up for online coaching with GPHF. Consistency is what I needed in my life. I managed to go for 5 months with doing 4 workouts per week at home. I started going fully to the gym in September and haven't looked back. Now almost 30 lbs lighter, fitter, and still just as busy, I have found that I still have just as much time for everything else as I have more energy, I feel happier, and I feel more confident. It has been a journey. One that is not over yet. I recently said, "I am glad I started when I did." Now I can continue moving forward instead of wishing I was where I am today. . And for this reason, we often encourage our clients to leave the "red light" foods out of the house. Those are the foods that you have no stop button around. Often that includes sweets! . .
