Well, we've moved back to a modified Stage 2. That means NO Lou Pomanti & Friends gig in October at the Jazz Bistro. But, we ARE booked for Nov 28....book now! (fingers crossed).
I think this may have been our 2nd gig. 2014. Time she flies. Especially at this tempo.
You may have seen this morning that The Jazz Bistro is temporarily closing till Xmas. That's true, BUT...they are staying OPEN for my monthly shows as they've been selling out regularly. They'll also be open for private events. So dont worry, Lou Pomanti & Friends will be BACK at the BISTRO OCT 24 with some amazing guests! See you there! Still a small number of seats left, number below.
Even though the music industry has effectively been demonetized, I forge on and do the only thing I know how to do...make music. I'm letting my past successes carry me through this phase, if it is a phase. The truth is I can't go on forever giving away my music for free on Facebook and YouTube. It's unsustainable. I'm seriously thinking about starting a subscriber-based patron page, like Patreon. Friends and fans would pay a monthly amount (probably about $10) and they would ...have access to all the music and videos I put out. When I put out something new, subscribers would have access to it for a full month before it goes public on Spotify etc. I am currently working on 2 new CDs, a solo record for me, and an Oakland Stroke album. Subscribers would receive these for no extra cost as part of their subscription. There would also be live show ticket giveaways available only to subscribers. This would of course put pressure on me to produce more content, and keep it coming regularly. With live music now being actually illegal, we are left with virtually zero revenue streams unless you have a billion views on YouTube. Mozart had Count WhatsHisName supporting him and his court orchestra. Ballet, opera and symphonic music have long been mostly supported by government grants and would disappear without that support. Please give me a thumbs up or a thumbs down on this one, I'm interested in hearing your opinion. It will help me in my decision. See more
Then there's this. RIP Rocco.
One of the great bass innovators of all time has passed. RIP Francis Rocco Prestia. He was one of a kind. He didn't sound like anyone, and no one sounded like him. The combination of him and David Garibaldi was one of the most unique sounds in funk, RnB and soul music. Damn.
