Some perspective on the announced federal-provincial agreement on caribou habitat restoration: Although this agreement doesn’t go far enough for some, it is a significant advancement and an immensely positive step in protecting and promoting this species at risk. (Now if only they were actively talking about innovation and northern economic development through adopting a non-winter/non-frozen work program using Canadian-made amphibious equipment.)

Great Excavations is a champion of caribou habitat restoration under non-frozen conditions using our custom-built floating equipment. This video shows a variety of techniques, including mounding and bending, that are used to limit predator access to caribou, essentially deactivating historic seismic cutlines and improving the survival of this species at risk.
