Taking some time to chill out! Our staff are in need of some time to re-group. We have to restock our tables. We are still taking phone messages and emails; we are looking after existing orders. Curbside pick up continues. Our current plan is to resume our regular store hours on Monday, June 1st. Please have a look at our website under COVID-19 comments for more details.

Pretty small show of snow drops to date ... but it is early Spring days... AND they have sprouted. While you wait for more Spring bulbs to brighten up your days, have a look at our website (www.greenthumbgarden.ca) for our current plans of how we intend to get our business up and running in these uncertain COVID-19 days.
It's not our usual personalized service to offer curbside pickup of seeds, soil, composted manure, mulch and most everything gardening that you might want ... but at least you can pick up some supplies for your garden. If we're outside, we'll even offer you a 2 metre away wave over our fence!
All cooped up at home as all of us should be? Why not see if you have any seeds hanging around from previous years that you might start indoors now. It's not too late to try tomatoes, eggplants, broccoli, brussel sprouts - the ones you often purchase as seedlings after May 24th. No pots on hand? Be resourceful...why not try egg cartons or even egg shells (the latter suggested by one of our customers!). They can go right into your garden later. Carrots, onions and swiss chard can be sown directly in the ground later!

Some things are for certain, in this uncertain environment! The Canada geese are back, setting up their home in a garden we created for one of our Tristan Court neighbours. Another sure thing: Spring is here - earlier than usual (the earliest since 1896) - 11.50 pm, Thursday, March 19th. Stay tuned to hear about our opening day!
Mother Nature never ceases to amaze...this Monarch butterfly larva found its way to a meal on our benches...choosing (of course) Asclepias tuberosa or butterfly weed. Every day is an adventure at Green Thumb Garden Centre!
With all this hot and dry weather, perhaps your garden has an empty space or needs a splash of colour. An annual or 3 at 50% off could do the trick! Come and enjoy our sale!
Red and white, white and red. This year's gardens continue to look wonderful with our perfect for gardening weather. Please remember, we are closed on Monday, July 1st. Summer hours start on Tuesday the 2nd. Happy Canada Day!
Yes, it's been a coolish Spring with lots of precipitation...but the spring bloomers and bulbs are offering us a long time to enjoy them. What's not to like about that...and we are open holiday Monday from 9 - 7!
Our doors are open for another gardening season. Still pretty sleepy around Green Thumb...our plants are just waking up from their long winter's nap! See you soon!
We think we know what Freddie our Green Thumb Groundhog said today...shouldn't be long until Spring! No hope of seeing my shadow today and that's definitely a record breaking January snowfall!
Brrr...it's cold and damp out there. Not quite yet like this! We are still at the store every day and gardening at our customers' homes. Regular store hours are over for this year, however. If you still need bulbs, burlap, stakes or even a gift certificate for a friend - we will happily meet you at the store for your purchase. We can even speak with you about next year's gardening plans!
There are still blooms to be had in our gardens - toad lily, bugbane (also known as snakeroot) and New England Asters. Is your planting patch short on late season blossoms? Go ahead and add these gems to next year's wish list!
