This June 1st, Manitoba's Climate Action Team and Winnipeg Comedy Festival present Local Food & Laughs: A Comedy Night at Home! Celebrate National Environment Week and join us for a night full of laughs amidst these times of uncertainty. We are here to raise awareness about the climate crisis while spreading some light in these isolated times. Today on Red Dress Day, the National Day of Awareness of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2Spirit we honour all who have been lost and think of ...those who don't feel safe. We reflect on the many changes expressed by the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls that need to happen in our society for MMIWG2S to reclaim their power and place. https://www.mmiwg-ffada.ca/final-report/ We hope for the needed changes in our communities so that everyone will feel safe. Did you opt for a real Christmas tree this year? While we're all for leaving it up till it's just short of a fire hazard, whenever you're ready to "un-decorate" your house, don't forget to recycle that tree! #DYK that putting trees in the landfill leads to methane emissions? If you're in Winnipeg, bring your tree to a recycling depot or for a small fee, get it picked up, and it will be chipped and composted or used for mulch.... Find out more on the blog at https://greenactioncentre.ca//lets-all-chip-in-and-recycl/

Check out the results of GoTober 2020! And thanks to everyone who participated this year! This year looked a little different due to everything going on in Manitoba, however despite (or because of) that, it is interesting to see that overall people were more sustainable in their travels! Click the link to see how many GHG emissions, calories, money, etc... were saved during the month of October because of users on the GoManitoba platform! Continue to log your travels to keep ...see your own personal statistics and learn where you can make changes to be more healthy and sustainable. https://greenactioncentre.ca/featured/gotober-2020-results/

Being active outdoors has so many benefits - even in winter! As the weather gets colder, that's no reason you have to stay inside, even with young kids. Car-free fun (or errands) is possible with the right preparation. What's your favourite way to be active outside in winter?
