*CASTING CALL* MONTREAL Looking for 3 actors to shoot outdoors on July 18 (hold for weather on July 19). Details below. Email headshot and resume to [email protected] Web video for a large online platform. This is a pilot project. Paid opportunity.... Storyline - One man assumes his front neighbour is racist after being ignored by him for 4 years. When the neighbour paints one of his front lawn white rabbits in black, the man learns a surprising truth and realizes his own prejudice. ROLES all English speaking no accents! CHARLIE Black male, 30-35. Energetic, smiley, passionate man with a drive for justice and equality. He lived for 4 years in a house facing an old white man, who has ignored him since day one (or so he thought). Reminded of all the instances in his life where he was treated differently because of the color of his skin, CHARLIE can’t help but label the old man as a racist. While he does his best to be a shining light for those around him, he tends to turn to sarcasm and humor as a coping mechanism, his lovely wife YASMINE often being on the receiving end of it. JOHN White male, 65-75. Stoic, retired man whose unsettling calm demeanor often gets mistaken for disinterest. He tends to get caught up in his own thoughts and lose awareness of the things that surround him, much often to the annoyance of the people around him. His conservative, patriotic appearance often betrays his deeply sensitive, wise and loving nature. JOHN was raised by a Black woman and has never understood the prejudice against people of color. Amidst the George Floyd protests and tensions, he paints one of his front lawn white rabbit statues in white as a peaceful gesture of support towards the cause. YASMINE Black female, 30-35. Strong, witty, independent thinker. Shares the same core values as Charlie but considers things from all possible perspectives before jumping to conclusions, much to CHARLIE’s disarray who often sees things as black and white. She’s the voice of reason and mediator in the relationship. When CHARLIE tries to convince her that the front yard neighbour is a racist, she’s the first one to challenge his views. Audition by SELF TAPE only. Please email [email protected] with headshot and resume. Audition materials and details will be sent to you. DEADLINE: THURSDAY JULY 2 SHOOT scheduled for July 18 (hold for weather on July 19). Health and safety is of utmost importance. Shoot will be with limited cast and crew and take place outside.
