Sale day today Sale starts at 3 PM so you still have time to get registered for the online sale.

Needing some beef to fill the freezer? We have a few spots available for farm finished beef that will be processed at a local inspected facility. We charge $4/lb plus processing charges. Also have some spots available for pork that will be going to the butcher at the end of March. $3.50/lb plus processing. Will be processed at DH Custom Sausage - a great time to fill the freezer with sausages and wieners for camping season and BBQ’s. Please send a PM with any questions or to book your spot.

We ran an experiment between our grass-fed ground beef and conventional raised grain feed ground beef from the local Co-op the biggest difference is the taste and texture which is related to the fat profile. The tomatoes we harvested in Sept finally ripened. My little helper and I filled a casserole dish with them along with some basil, oregano and parsley from the greenhouse. I also put in some onion and garlic cloves. This will go in the oven at 400 F for 30 min or so. I like mixing everything quick in the blender and then once it cools it goes in ziploc bags in the freezer. Then it’s ready to pull out whenever you need crushed tomatoes in a recipe.
Biodiversity on the ranch. Northern Pygmy Owl which is the first time I have seen one here hopefully he/she makes a home here. We plan to build some owl nesting boxes over the winter.
This concoction may not look super exciting right now but by supper it will be a delicious pot of comfort food. My family loves a good bowl of split pea soup and smoked ham hocks (thanks to the pigs and DH Custom Sausage) are the key. Also in the soup are veggies from the garden and bone broth. Yummy 1 onion diced 2 garlic cloves minced... 1 or 2 carrots diced 2 celery ribs diced 2 potatoes diced 1 lb split peas (washed) 6 cups broth 1 bay leaf Salt and pepper 1 or 2 ham hocks Throw them all in the instant pot for 30 min and allow natural release. Also works great in the slow cooker on low all day.

Making some homemade bacon from a whole pork belly (from home raised piggies of course). Just have to wait a week now and we can start enjoying it for breakfast.
