Earth Day 2021. Wow, another full year has gone by and I find myself reflecting on if or how I have made a difference this year. The theme for Earth Day 2021 is very fittingly Restore Our Earth. For me, taking action to Restore our Earth can mean so many things. Advocating for Nature, growing some of your own food, Signing petitions to protect Old Growth Forests, literally calling governments to create and mandate sustainable forestry practices, asking politicians and c...orporations to put our Planet before profit, calling for protection of Mountains and Wetlands which are hugely biodiverse and also amazing natural carbon sinks, supporting wildlife and nature conservation programs like CPAWS (and so many others!), sharing ideas on social media about responsible companies, picking up litter in a safe way, switching from a plastic laundry soap bottle to laundry strips, turning off lights, thinking twice before running the clothes dryer and hanging items instead, the list is long and that is super empowering. I choose to focus my energy on things we CAN do, actions we can take, people we can positively influence and ways to grow my own knowledge. I am so grateful for all the youth who are growing up and caring so much. I am grateful to see beach and ocean cleanups, compost programs, not for profit groups like plastic free yyc, all are made up of people willing and able to take action. This inspires me, empowers me and motivates me to do more, to do better and to keep focusing on these goals that fuel my passion. Today and everyday, I strive to love this immense and beautiful planet and all of the creatures that inhabit it. greenC Please share your ideas with me on what Earth Day 2021 means for you See more
Today. The fate of Old Growth Forests on Vancouver Island lies in the hands of the BC government. This is a HUGE precedent setter going forward. PLEASE take 1 minutes, phone the number and ask the BC Premier to SAVE BC’s old growth. Doesn’t matter what province you live in, these Ancient Forests need to be protected for Canada. Not only for the trees, but for the incredible biodiversity that also thrives in these forests. So grateful to all who Take Action. greenC ...#forfuturegenerations #becausewecare #dotherightthing #saveoldgrowth #careforourplanet See more
BC's 1,000 year old trees and forests need our voice. Please use this link and call Premier Horgan's office. There is currently a court injunction in place to delay OLD GROWTH logging in certain areas on Vancouver Island. We can lobby to get these precious areas protected. The call took me less than 1 minute. Love Canada, love clean air, love our forests. https://www.stand.earth//primary-/call-horgan-fairy-creek
When Covid challenges you to get creative and pivot your business... greenC is now officially on Amazon!
Glitter... So I have been meaning to post about glitter for a while now. Glitter on cards, wrap, as a craft supply. As a type A, glitter has always been my nemesis. Even before I knew how much I cared about the planet. Turns out glitter is a microplastic and a micrometal in most cases. It is made of combined materials making it unrecyclable on cards, wrap and crafts. These items need to hit the landfill not our recycle bin. And microplastics make their way into animals bellies and our watersupply. Glitter innovations are coming but until then, we are going to find other ways to shine. greenC
SALE! Ends Jan 31. Get one while they last! These bins are normally $50-$60. Super cute compost bins look great on your kitchen counter, bathroom or in your office. Each bin has a removable inner pail for easy cleaning in the dishwasher, no bags required. There is also a carbon filter in the lid to minimize odor, mold and fruit flies. I also use these bins to organize my pantry and cupboards. Bins are brand new, have a few left in each color: blue, grey or white.
Thanks turtlefur for the cool buff and for donating 2 hats as part of their #projectwarmth @turtlefur @skiwest.ca
