There are no essential nutrients that come only from plants but several that only come from animal based foods. There are three macronutrients that make up the ...food we consume, a macronutrient is a chemical element or substance that is essential, in relatively large amounts, to the growth and health of a living organism. For us, the three macros are fats, protein and carbohydrates, both plants and animal foods can provide us with varying proportions of macros. Of the three macros it can be argued that only two are essential to our life and that is fats and proteins. Our bodies do require a small amount of glucose (carbohydrate) but if not taken in the diet this can be made from protein through a process called gluconeogenesis. In our latest article (written by our co-founder Glen) digs deep into one of the essential macros that is provided by animal based foods and compares it to plant based sources https://buff.ly/3mczEdZ

Looking for Pasture Raised meat? We are sold out... But I keep getting asked where to find some.... I would recommend Big Coulee Farms. They have pasture raised turkey, chicken and pork, cut and wrapped and ready to go. They also have grass fed beef available. They can deliver into the Edmonton area. Check out their website here:... http://www.bigcouleefarms.com/ See more

I am asked quite often about how much freezer space is needed for a full pig. I think this makes a good visual representation of space. A full pig usually ends... up being about 6 boxes of meat. Plus or minus. Rail weight is about 72% of live weight and about 57% of a hog will make it from the pasture into the box. A 200 lb hog will yield approximately 144 lbs rail weight and 114 lbs of retail cuts in the box cut and wrapped. Oink. Oink.

Natural grass-fed beef. 1/4, 1/2, or whole animal. Only 1 animal left. No hormones or chemicals. Fed only exceptional grass, minerals, salt, and great water + tons of love with a rotational grazing system. $4.78 per pound on the rail, processed at Sangudo Custom Meats in early November. For what you take home, it equates to about $7.50/pound, including all fees and processing.... If interested, please call Dan at 780-785-9479 Will deliver to Edmonton or Calgary

This year's pasture walk with Greener Pastures Ranching is one for the books! With the downsizing of events we thought that it would be fun to do a movie style ...pasture walk and jump on the opportunity of inviting people that often have a difficult time making it to our annual walk in person! Enjoy the video and feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions! See more

One of the great things about regenerative farming, is that by taking care of riparian areas we get the opportunity to provide habitat for animals like muskrats. In return we get to enjoy taking some excellent video of them!

I have had the distinct privilege of viewing an early screening of the new and groundbreaking .. without breaking the ground documentary from the much admired... Kiss The Ground organization. I will be honest, because that is all I am, when I saw famous vegan Woody Harrelson was narrating I was apprehensive about the core message of this documentary. I am overjoyed to say that my appreciations couldn’t have been more unfounded. This documentary is a beacon of hope for all of us who follow the only path forward, and that path is Regenerative Agriculture of both animals and crops. We must all join soil covered hands, full hearts and ignited souls in this fight to save our planet by saving her soil and by doing that we save ourselves. This documentary is so important, it’s hard to put into words. My dear friends Seth Itzkan and Karl Thidemann of Soil4Climate Inc. who sent me the pre screening invite can attest to the fact that the hope in my sometimes very defeated and fight weary heart was renewed to the point of grateful tears. You will see some old heroes and you will find new ones. Many thanks to mine.. to name a few Gabe Brown of Brown's Ranch, Ray (the Soil guy) Archuleta, Doniga Markegard of Markegard Family Grass-Fed and of course the man himself Allen Savory of Savory Institute for representing our community so very well. Thank you also to producer John Roulac of Nutiva and of course the one and only Finian Makepeace co founder of Kiss the Ground Movie and of course Josh Tickell and Big Picture Ranch This documentary is on Netflix September 22nd so please mark the date, get some tissues and RUN do not walk to this life changing experience. Looking for freezer space? We have a seacan walk in freezer that is available to be moved. It is not for sale but if anyone wants a freezer, we are willing to ...work out a partnership to move it closer to the north Edmonton area. We have a number of smaller direct marketers needing freezer space but right now it is too far away from the city. It uses 3 phase power but It does have a single phase converter if need be. Call or text if you are interested. 780 307 6500 See more

Our pasture piggers are growing like crazy now. They are loving this 3rd growth that one of our herds of cattle helped us provide for them.
