In case you were wondering, living close to natural surroundings is now proven to give you the same amount of happiness as a pay raise. Check it out! Another great example of Cultural ecosystem services.
We are having fun while getting serious about everyone's spring projects. If you will be working on development, water diversion, building projects or something you just suspect may impact the integrity of ecosystem services, do your Due Diligence and give us a shout. Let us hook you up with our Project Support services so we can help you plan and manage the environmental side of your projects :)
Are you? :) PS welcome spring!!
As the leaves begin to bud, and flowers begin to poke out of the ground, so too does our Aerial Imagery and Analysis services open up for the season. In our first flight, we watch Mark Clements this this 'polar bear dip' as he takes a brave plunge into Lake Huron to fundraise for the efforts of Al Magaw, at the Spirit of the North kennel.
Thankyou to all our clients who have reached out to us for our aerial imagery and analysis services to support their ecosystem restoration and protection efforts this season. The stories and relationships that all have with their land continues to humble and amaze us. We have been honored to have been invited to be a part of all of your work :)
It’s mushroom season for the awesome customers who have taken advantage of the mushroom growing that we offer through our seasonal services. Keep your eyes peeled for wild ones or Enjoy these delicious oyster mushrooms, these ones grown in poplar logs.
Only in Canada: there are 200+ species that can only be found in Canada and many are quite rare. Check out the study here ;)
In our opinion, this is not great news. We do however stand beside our friends who are experiencing impact from the lifting of Environmental Assessment Act, and we do our best to try and help our friends to keep communications about the values surrounding ecosystem services on the table.
Victoria is back with her early summer update on her garden project. She is at a new place and part of learning about her new home is to have a garden that has become a focal point for grandkids, neighbors, and even geese to visit. Check it out!
Economics or endangered species? The two go head to head in this situation happening in Sauble Beach (Saugeen Ojibway Nation traditional territory, Bruce Peninsula). The decisions made here will absolutely set the stage for future similar issues, so where possible, we do encourage voices to be raised so that compromises can happen fairly.
The videos of our Pitch Competition have arrived! Watch CEO of green feet present live (online!) at the Gryphon Laair competition held at the end of May :) Despite not winning, we have had some super incredible responses from our pitch and we are pretty pumped for all the resulting support and interest! Enjoy!
Its Game Time! Download this free futuristic game where you can help to mitigate fires and floods by planting trees! Get your kids involved in the action ;) Developed by Uni of British Columbia by some VERY cool people!
Although we didn't win the Pitch competition, we took solace in taking out our drone. To our delight, we captured some spectacular photos and videos of this beautiful creature that we have been waiting to spawn: the endangered Spotted Gar.
Our pitch is now 2hrs away, but I wanted to share some behind the scenes shots as our CEO prepares for this pitch alongside the tiniest stakeholder of our work See you all at 3pm! Register (for free!) Vote for us. Enjoy the benefits of supporting us in our work using drones to protect and restore our environments for future generations FYI, that is a bonsai tree that was drawn in the picture to remind our CEO to keep her answers 'short and trim'.
Get your tickets here! Register! And vote for green feet ecosystem services to win the peoples choice award! This award would mean a lot to our work by showing others that people want environmental protection to lead our economies as we begin to return to normal :)
