So the #hugakultur cantaloupe or cucumber (trying to decide what to plant) hill and trellis built with scraps is coming along. And my neighbours are asking if they can have our quack grass sod that I am digging up. The obvious answer is yes, because it is easier than shaking out the dirt and composting the roots #classicwinwinsituation #gardeningismystressfreezone #grassfreelawn

"Good evening Mr. Premier, Mr. Kinew, and Mr. Lamont: As we enter the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we see our case counts rise, I think there is a need to stand together in urging Manitobans to do the right thing in staying home, practicing the fundamentals, and following public health guidance (and even going beyond it). We as Manitobans need to set aside partisan views (insomuch as is possible) and urge the public to comply with health orders. This is not to say... that there is not more room for improvements, or that further measures are not needed; and obviously as opposition party leaders we have a duty to hold the Government to account. But as four opposing party leaders we can also stand together in a display of unity to encourage a beleaguered public to continue on with public health restrictions for just a bit longer to get through this. We are all in this together and the virus does not care what political party its host votes for. " http://ow.ly/H2Kk50EI2R8

So on a stressful Saturday morning it is nice to dig in the garden. #gardeningismystressfreezone and it was also nice to see that I should be harvesting asparagus in the next couple days, and the rhubarb, garlic, and strawberries are all starting up for the season #springishere

Decent afternoon Winnipeg weather for early May (over 20 C) time to take the indoor tomato plants outdoors to harden them up for the season. Hopefully I can transplant them in mid-May to early June and keep them producing all year long #gardening #gardeningismytherapy

Luckily we nabbed some yurt bookings this year (I have a very organized get on and register at precisely 7AM partner), but an actual lottery system or a rolling reservation system would make more sense that having all bookings open at once. http://ow.ly/S1Rv50ElOw9

"...amid the hype, green energy experts caution that the government's plan relies too heavily on hydrogen generated using fossil fuels and doesn't provide a clear path to green hydrogen." "Currently, hydrogen fuel is colour-coded. Grey hydrogen is made using fossil fuels such as natural gas; blue hydrogen is also made using fossil fuels, but the carbon emissions are captured and stored; and green hydrogen is made using renewable power such as wind, solar and hydro. "...most o...f the hydrogen produced in Canada right now is grey, with a small percentage of blue." https://www.cbc.ca//what-on-earth-hydrogen-canada-grey-blu

I hope to see meaningful climate action and investments in poverty reduction in #mbbudget2021. That said I am not holding my breathe with this government. But if you want to "Wine About the Budget" Communities Not Cuts Manitoba is hosting an event today: http://ow.ly/6Uu750EiZ62

Vigil for Victims of Covid-19 Friday December 11 & Saturday December 12 Manitoba Legislative Building, Broadway steps What: Please join us in creating a vigil to commemorate those who have been lost due to Covid-19 in Manitoba. We want to use this vigil to share how important our seniors are to us. We want to express support for front-line workers, including health-care workers, teachers and so many others. We want to install this at the Legislature as a daily reminder to the... provincial government of the loss that could have been prevented with a better response to this pandemic, and urge them to take greater action. This pandemic touches all of our lives differently and we encourage you to come and share the message from your own own heart. What to bring: Anything you would like to add to the vigil. Some suggestions: a candle (only electronic candles allowed), photograph, protest sign / sign of support, or a pair of slippers to signify someone lost. How to Social Distance: We will have one or two volunteers present at the vigil with plenty of room for distancing on the Legislature grounds. Please approach the vigil one household at a time. How to Share: Visit the vigil, take a picture, and use the hashtag #mbvigil. Tell your friends or anyone else who might like to contribute. #takecaremb

The youth today are so inspiring. Sometimes after working decade on climate change action it can get tired. Thank you to these young people for being the true leaders that they are. https://www.cbc.ca//youth-pull-off-global-climate-conferen

The last 12 years have been great. But I’m honoured to have the next 2 to continue to lead the Green Party of Manitoba as we head toward an increasingly important election.
