Green Love

Isn’t this a gorgeous sculpture! It’s called, ‘thrive.’ The sculptural installation features an enormous female figure pulling open its chest to reveal a fern-...adorned archway that pedestrians can walk through. The heart chakra is green and for me this sculpture celebrates the open heart and it’s bountiful capacity for love but there’s also a sense of healing after being broken. Maybe it means something different to you? Crafted in glass-fiber reinforced concrete, the figure weighs about 14 tons and stands over 30 feet tall. Created by Cape Town-based artist, Daniel Popper. Thrive was unveiled at a residential complex in Fort Lauderdale and will be a permanent public art installation. You can follow Daniel on instagram @danielpopper

Then one day, this beauty bloomed. Believe me when I tell you that succulents are not easy. It's a myth. Believe me when I tell you that I see so many succulents planted in a way that makes them nearly guaranteed to die.... Does anyone know the beautiful weathered old wagon that sits in front of Green Tree Gardens & Emporium filled with succulents? It is absolutely stunning. It is also the truest example of a zero maintenance succulent garden I've seen outside of California. Why? Because it has everything a succulent needs. 1) Blazing sun, lots of light. 2) Drainage. If your succulent is planted without drainage and someone tells you that because there are rocks on the bottom it's okay - it's not okay. It won't die tomorrow - but get your head around the fact that you are buying something that will look great for a long while but one day you will have to part ways. Which is fine #managingexpectations 3) Bursts of water. Outside in the sun the wagon gets rain, it drains, then it completely dries out again. This is what succulents like. Not frequent little dribbles of water because you're not sure. Let it get DRY, then WATER it, and let the water run out the bottom. Not sure how this happened. I just intended to share this photo I like, and it turned into a little Succulent How - To. Oh well, hope it helps your succulents look great longer. Greentree Gardens & Emporium

Live Frame. So beautiful today with the sunlight on it.
