**Free vegetable seeds for anyone who attends the event!** Hi Everyone! Come join EHIG on Jan 13 at 7pm to learn more about urban farms and how this helps to combat food insecurity in cities. Access to healthy food is an important social determinant of health, and urban farms provide a community-led solution to increasing access to fruits and vegetables. Ines from Ryerson Urban Farm will present on the history of their project, how they converted a roof to a functioning farm,... and the programs they offer. We will then be mailing seeds to attendees so that they can start their own winter garden at home! Please RVSP on the page to receive your seed package! https://fb.me/e/1VMlr7i3w

*Opportunity to get involved in systematic environmental healthcare change!!* The Canadian Coalition for Green Healthcare is looking for some medical students interested in helping with the Green Hospital Scorecard (GHS). The GHS is the only comprehensive health care benchmarking tool in Canada measuring energy conservation, water conservation, waste management and recycling, corporate commitment and pollution prevention. Participating hospitals report on their environmental and sustainability initiatives through a questionnaire and receive a Green Hospital Scorecard summarizing their environmental performance relative to their peers. If you're interested in this opportunity, please send an email to Linda Varangu ([email protected]) and Neil Ritchie ([email protected])!

For anyone interested in how climate change and racism intersect, there is a free zoom event Thursday, October 28 (tomorrow!) open for anyone to attend! It will be given by Dr. Ingrid Waldron from Dalhousie University from 5-6:30pm. ------------------------------------------------- "Dr. Ingrid Waldron will examine the social justice dimensions of place and space by unpacking the larger socio-spatial processes that create disproportionate exposure and vulnerability to the h...armful social, economic, and health impacts of environmental racism, climate change, and other public infrastructure inequalities in Indigenous and Black communities in Canada. Dr. Waldron’s presentation will include an overview of the interdisciplinary, multi-sectoral, multi-media, and multi-method approaches she has been using over the past several years to raise awareness about and address environmental racism and climate change impacts in Indigenous and Black communities and mobilize knowledge on these issues using documentary film, social and traditional media, mapping, workshops, and other public engagement events, and publications."
