On #EarthDay Greens are calling on Ford to #StopThe413. Let's protect the places we love! #onpoli #HappyEarthDay https://gpo.ca//on-earth-day-ford-should-cancel-highway-4/
Happy Earth Day! Today, millions of people across the world are rising up, demanding action and calling on governments to #RestoreOurEarth. These include world climate leaders, grassroots activists, nonprofit innovators, thought leaders, industry leaders, artists, musicians, influencers--and the leaders of tomorrow. We asked a few of Guelph's future leaders to share how they'll be celebrating Earth Day this year. They responded with some beautiful Earth-loving artwork as wel...l as a simple message: "We celebrate by acting like every day is Earth Day." How are the future leaders in your house celebrating this year? We'd love to see! Please post pics in the comments below. Additionally, if you'd like to join in the virtual global Earth Day festivities, you can find them at earthday.org.
If human beings have any hope of thriving in the 21st century, we’re going to need a major, collective mindset shift. And Doughnut Economics could be the spark we need to light the fuse. This theory offers an opportunity to better understand our present-day approach to life, policy-making, economics, and businessand suggests ways to shift our thinking to get us where we need to be. You don’t have to be an economist to get excited about itor even interested in economics, rea...lly (trust us on this one). You simply have to have a curiosity and desire to make the world a better place for everyone while living within the ecological boundaries of our planet. In this blog post, we explain what Doughnut Economics is, why we’re so excited about the idea and why we’ve decided to host a panel discussion on the topic at our AGM on December 2. We hope you’ll check it out! https://guelphgreens.ca/doughnut-economics-101/
What is Doughnut Economics? And how could it potentially make Guelph (and the world) a better place to live? Those are the questions our moderator Judy N Green, former GPC leadership candidate and huge Doughnut Economics proponent, will be asking our AGM panel on December 2. In this one-hour discussion, we'll learn the basics of this new economic theory; find out how different our city would be if everyone lived within the Doughnut; and discover how biomimicry (a practice th...at uses nature to resolve human challenges) could be the key to living within the ecological means of the planet. Why Ontario needs more Green MPPs
Rather than divert into huffy admonishments or partisan sniping, Paul preached the importance of cross-party co-operation to develop solutions. Paul explained that this approach isn’t particularly revolutionary, but rather a tradition in times of crisis. https://www.nationalobserver.com//annamie-paul-green-party
Consider signing! We, the undersigned, Citizens of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to include plastic water bottles on the list of single use plastics that need to be phased out permanently in 2021.
If you could pick one image to represent the Guelph Greens, what would it be? That's the question our Executive Board grappled with over the last few months as we set out to design our brand new logo. What do you think we ultimately settled on? Jot down your guess below...and then attend our AGM to witness the exciting logo unveiling! ... https://vote.greenparty.ca/rsvp/eve_9b3c923d1
We get it. Not everyone wants to spend 2 hours on a Wednesday night at a virtual AGM. But if Canada's democracy is something you value, this could be a relatively easy way to support it. That's because our AGM on December 2 is just one tool of participatory democracy--a key value of both the Green Party of Ontario and the Green Party of Canada. So what is participatory democracy (really)? Here, our provincial Guelph Greens CA president, Crista Renner, breaks it down for you-...-and explains why it inspired her to "go Green". https://guelphgreens.ca/how-to-strengthen-canadas-democrac/ See more

Whoa, check out this terrific news!
Meet Dianne, your Provincial Guelph Greens Event Coordinator! If you haven't met Dianne in person already, you've likely chatted with her on the phone. Over the last 12 months, she's been working diligently to mobilize our volunteers and connect with members of the Guelph community. You want to know something else about Dianne? She used to be a staunch Conservative! Find out what made her go Green (and then share her story with anyone who believes "environmental sustainabili...ty" and "financial sustainability" are mutually exclusive.) https://guelphgreens.ca/executive-spotlight-dianne-dance/
A large role of the CAs is protecting people and property from natural hazards, such as flooding and erosion. These most recent changes to the CAA and the Planning Act significantly undermine the ability of conservation authorities to successfully do this https://www.huffingtonpost.ca//ford-conservation-laws-budg
