(Spam filters often block our emails) We at Green Thumb Kids regret to inform you that we must cancel your pre-order due to crop failure of 8 of our approximately 30 varieties of tomatoes. ... This might seem minor (considering how many tomato varieties we grow) but the varieties that failed were on almost every single pre-order that was placed. We have reseeded but those new tomato seedlings won’t be ready until later in May and we understand that for many, that is later than they prefer to plant their garden. Our deepest apologies for this inconvenience and we thank you for your patience and understanding. We have REOPENED our (updated) ONLINE STORE for those of you who prefer to preorder your tomato seedlings and pickup. We hope that you will make still make time to come to our (new!) extended open plant sale days and choose from our ABUNDANCE of seedlings: tomatoes, herbs, cucumbers, summer and winter squash, strawberries and more. ***new extended plant sale times!*** 22350 Wye Road, Sherwood Park. (A long explanation: for those of you who are interested) Sadly, our local supplier of potting soil mix accidentally miscalculated his proportions when mixing our soil and made the nitrogen so high that it completely wiped out all the tomato varieties we transplanted into that soil - quite suddenly, within ten days. Quickly, we returned to a commercial type of soil mix and continued our transplanting and reseeding. Which is why we have major loss with some varieties and wonderful success with others. The herbs - generally - were seeded later so are doing as well as usual.
