Blizzards, ice storms, high winds and blowing snow can develop quickly and threaten life and property. Alberta also experiences extreme cold temperatures during the winter, when temperatures can reach as low as minus 40C or colder. Temperatures this low are life-threatening and put people and animals at risk. A blizzard warning is issued when falling or blowing snow reaches speeds of at least 40 km/h and is expected to last 4 hours or longer. Visibility during this time is r...educed to 400 metres or less. Blizzards or blowing snow can occur when there are clear skies and can cause zero visibility. Wildfire season officially starts March 1 and runs until October 31 each year. If a fire is near, protect yourself and loved ones by following directions from authorities and be prepared to evacuate. Download the Alberta Wildfire App for more information. Maintain an emergency kit, stocked with supplies such as water, food, battery-powered or crank radio and flashlight.... Store important documents such as passports, birth certificates, banking information and insurance papers in a safe place in an above ground location. In an emergency event, you will need some basic supplies as critical services may be interrupted. You should be prepared to take care of yourself and your families for a minimum of 72 hours. Easter, a time for egg hunts and the anticipation of Springs arrival. The Municipal District of Greenview believes, we should appreciate all the good in our Families, our communities, and our world. If you spend time with Family and Friends this Easter, plan to spend it outdoors. Remember to maintain safe distancing, gather in small groups, wear masks and most importantly wash your hands. We are a stronger when we watch out for each other. Greenview Offices will be closed Good Friday and Easter Monday. Happy Easter from Council and Staff at the Municipal District of Greenview. #greenviewnews #mdgreenview #happyeaster

Greenview remains committed to working to provide continued services in the best interest of public health. With the health and safety of Greenview staff, Council and the general public being our top priority, Greenview will require mandatory face masks or face coverings to be worn in all municipal administrative offices, FCSS offices and the Grande Cache Tourism Information Centre until further notice. Effective Monday, November 9, 2020, the MD of Greenview has implemented m...andatory mask or face coverings at all Greenview municipal offices. Any public attending a municipal office, FCSS offices, or the Grande Cache Tourism Information Centre will be required to don a mask. Those without a mask, will be provided with one to wear. Masks should complement, not replace other preventative measures such as maintaining a physical distance of 2 metres between you and others, practice hand hygiene, cough or sneeze into your sleeve, and stay home when sick. *Please note that increased protocols for Greenview Recreation Centres will be announced later this week. For more information visit https://mdgreenview.ab.ca//covid-19-update-mandatory-mask/
