On Monday, March 15, 2021, Applewood Retirement Residence in Peterborough received their first doses of the Pfizer vaccine! We're incredibly happy to report that all of our residences have started the process of vaccination (3 of our residences have had both doses).

Soldiering On On March 14th we mark one year since the start of our fight against Covid-19. Our long, tiring, exhilarating, heart warming and heart wrenching fight. Jennifer has extensive experience in Senior Living and has opened multiple newly constructed retirement homes. She has also been an RPN for 19 years! The dedication and compassion of our Executive Directors never ceases to amaze us. Retirement Suites by the Lake had a full sweep test done by Public Health just over two weeks ago. That sweep identified one resident and three team members as Covid-19 positive. Without hesitation, our Executive Director Lorrie moved into the home to be there, supporting, assisting 24-hrs a day. Thanks to the teams’ strict adherence to protocols prior to getting the positive results, all four ...cases were contained and there were no instances of spread to any other residents or team members. Yesterday, the outbreak was lifted. The team there are all superheroes with an Executive Director who cares more about her residents and team members than her own comfort and security. Thank you Lorrie, for leading with your heart and being a rock of support for those in your home. Last night, she got to sleep in her own bed. #covid #support #thankyou #greenwoodretirement

We are pleased to report as of May 26, Applewood Retirement Residence remains COVID-19 free! We know that self-isolating at home is getting harder and harder ...on people both physically and mentally. Each week is feeling like months. We are offering some relief, and an option for people to self-isolate with us. People will not have to worry about getting groceries and cooking. They will instead enjoy our home-cooked meals delivered to the comfort of their own suite. Wellness checks and care services on-site will bring a level of safety not available at home. We are at the end of the call bell 24-7. People will also enjoy some of our activities and amenities, but in smaller groups that facilitate appropriate distancing. Come stay with us for a month to recharge your batteries. We are a safe option. We want to help and support those who have a need.
