Silverstein has been advised that Viva ligature, a company based in Spain and founded by Miguel Tristan, is creating ligatures that are a blatant copy of our HE...XA ligature which is protected by US Patent #US9183817B2. These ligatures are counterfeit and in no way are associated with or sanctioned by Silverstein Works. They are theft of our intellectual property. While Silverstein applauds and encourages market competition and the pursuit of competitive and productive excellence, we do not condone nor are we willing to tolerate this ethically compromised behavior. The counterfeiting and copying of patented intellectual property is an industry-wide scourge, discouraging companies from investing in the research and development of new and innovative products. This in turn hurts the very people who would most benefit - musicians. Companies such as Theo Wanne Mouthpieces and Instruments, JodyJazz Inc., Ishimori Wind Instruments Co., Ltd, Playnick, ReedGeek, BG France and countless others, have seen their investments continually threatened by copycats and imitators who wish to ride the coattails of their successes. Silverstein will use all means at our disposal to fight these fraudulent and unethical practices. Silverstein is always open to constructive collaboration. Therefore any who are interested in using our patents, designs or intellectual property are welcome to contact us to discuss how we may partner together to drive innovation and evolution in the music industry.
