The Public Works Department deserves a huge thank you for all the work they have done and continue to do to make our community great! From keeping our roads clear and our water safe to building a skate trail and rigging up quite possibly the best DIY Zamboni. Thank you! Not pictured, the real MVPs: Van Bot, Calvin Kardash, Dale Lalonde, Michael McCann, Terry Scott and our newest member Chris Sikala.
Enjoy the bright lights of the Grenfell Lights Competition this weekend and the nights leading up to Christmas. Judges will be out at 8 p.m. tonight, so don't forget to switch on your lights. Download the Twinkle Tour Map here http://townofgrenfell.com//6a789a0c-efff-42c0-bc24-ec2aae6 Please be mindful the GRP Skate Trail will not be open until Saturday, December 19. We are still waiting for consistent cold weather to establish an opening date for the outdoor rink- rest assured our Public Works staff are working diligently to make it happen!
Both the Outdoor Rink and the Skate Trail are now open. Please adhere to the ice surface rules and be respectful of other users. Stay safe and enjoy! For pleasure skate/shinny hours and more info please see https://townofgrenfell.com/p/outdoor-rink- ***Edited*** Be aware, capacity is 30 people on the ice rink and 30 people on the skate trail. Please be considerate and limit your time on the ice if others are waiting to skate.
We couldn't have done it without our sponsors: Hometown Co-op, Horizon Credit Union, Remax Blue Chip Realty Shannon Dyke and the Town of Grenfell. Thank you to the Grenfell Fire Department for being on location as a precautionary measure and a big hats-off to Paradise Fireworks for their amazingly talented crew. It was beautiful to hear the air filled with holiday music, see the lights twinkling and most importantly, to see our downtown busy and bustling. This is what makes... The skate trail is looking beautiful, but please remember the ice is not yet ready. The skate trail will open Saturday, while the outdoor rink opening date is TBD. Please remain off of the ice surfaces so Public Works can flood and work can continue. Contact the Town Office if your business/organization would like to advertise along the skate trail. The opportunity is free and displays can remain up until March 15th.
Please note the Transit Bus will not operate its normal Tuesday and Friday schedule for the weeks of December 20-26 and December 27- January 2, due to the statutory holidays. You may ride the bus on Wednesday, December 23rd and/or December 30th. Regular schedule will resume on January 5, 2021.
While it may feel like we're missing out on a lot during these times, it's important to remember we have everything we need right here. We have friends and family who greet us from their doorsteps and driveways; local businesses stocked with the essentials; opportunities to participate in safe recreation and entertainment; and local employers that keep us employed. We may be a small town, but we have everything to offer. ... Share your hometown and your special moments online with #mygrenfell. Let's show the world just how great small-town living can be.
