Grete's Carved Glass

This is one of my favorite designs. It is a Japanese rice emblem. I think it is very graceful, and I admire the way they have made the grass look quite real even though it is contained in a circle. I like working with designs I admire.

I just finished this barn door with a design with trees. The door is supposed to create a good deal of privacy because it is situated between a living room and a bedroom. The design would have shown better against clear glass, but it is still readable against the frosted background.

There are eight pieces of glass in these doors, each of them about 30" by 20". At first I thought of them as just two doors, but when it dawned on me that four of these glass panels add up to 7 feet, it became quite a big job in my mind. Easy enough to work out on a small piece of paper. Difficult to get a full view of until the job was finished and the doors in place. But it worked. I think.

This is a try-out on a thin piece of glass. Just to see if I could do it. I started out from a clip art version. I guess that makes it easier. I think it looks not too bad. What do you think?
