Tip Tuesday: Here's a piece from Saltwire that provides some tips on how to stay connected with your older loved one during Covid-19 restrictions.
Happy to serve with this great group of service providers.
Always nice to get these kinds of emails. I have had the opportunity to consult with Ms. Chartrand on two separate occasions. One event involved a friend of mine who, due to her circumstances, was in need of help to conduct various functions such as navigating... government bureaucracies, exploring various options for Nursing Homes and assessing and evaluating real estate options. I worked closely with Marie-Claire in connection with these matters over a period of four months. I also had the opportunity to consult Marie-Claire on a family member’s transition to an assisted care facility. Her help proved invaluable. Based on my experience, I do not hesitate to recommend ‘Grey Wave’ highly. Marie-Claire is knowledgeable, competent and a good listener. She is a pleasant individual with whom it is a pleasure to work. Margaret A. Archibald.
Tip Tuesday: Create your Personal Directive now. It will help ensure your wishes are followed and that your loved ones will know what you want. Advance Care Planning Canada have the resources to help you complete one. "It's About Conversations, It's About Wishes. Advance Care Planning is a process of reflection and communication. It is a time for you to reflect on your values and wishes, and to let people know what kind of health and personal care you would want in the future if you were unable to speak for yourself. TIP TUESDAY Try and try again. Even if you have tried a caregiving strategy and it didn't work out, try it again another time. I often hear from older adults or their caregivers: " we tried homecare or a day program and it didn't work out". It may not have worked out at that time for several reasons. It may not have been a good match of workers or that particular worker did not have the skills required. The person with dementia may not have been advanced enough to feel like they fit in at the Adult Day program. There are so many benefits to both of these services that trying them again at a later time is well worthwhile. Circumstances change and care needs change and it may be worth revisiting things that did not work in the past.
