Today would have been Day 1 of our opening Ice Breaker Bonspiel! We aren’t able to curl, but we’d like to take the time to thank our sponsors and supporters over the next few weeks to show our appreciation. We’d like to start off by thanking County of Northern Lights. We have had so many changes since reopening our rink in 2016. This would have been our sixth season and we were looking forward to our members and guests being able to enjoy our newest upgrades on the ice surface! Thanks to the County of Northern Lights we’ve been able to make many improvements in our building throughout the years. To them, we are forever grateful.

Hello everyone! We are in the process of cleaning out the locker room at the rink. We have discovered a lot of curling supplies and are unable to identify owners for most of it. If you have anything in a locker at the rink and would like to keep it, please message the page to let us know so that we can set it aside for you. Thank You.

Throwback to our first year reopening with natural ice in 2016! We have had so many changes since then, including running our ice plant, replacing our ice surface lighting, upgrading our commercial kitchen, painting our brick walls, and replacing our boards. Lots of exciting changes and upgrades! Thanks to County of Northern Lights grants and the continued support of our members.

Although Covid-19 has affected us in many ways, the Grimshaw Curling Club is still hoping to open this year. We know that curling can be a covid safe sport by following all Curling Alberta guidelines. We have seen many clubs from around the region open safely. Although the Province has banned sports in Enhanced Zones for 3 weeks, we are hoping that this will be a temporary measure that will be lifted once case numbers drop. We are looking forward to another great season! This... year we would like to run 3 League nights: Mixed League - Tuesday Nights Mixed Doubles/Stick Curling - Wednesday Nights Mens League - Thursday Nights For those who do not know, Mixed Doubles is a new fun way to curl and has recently been added as an Olypmic Sport. You only play with two people and throw 5 rocks each end. In Stick Curling, you throw with a stick and throw 6 rocks each end. You play 6 ends, each game taking about 1 hour each for a total of 2 hours of play. Get your teams ready! Registration will be coming out in the coming days.

As many of you know, we had to reschedule our ice plant fundraiser raffle when our season ended early in March. We were granted an extension on our raffle license from AGLC for our Ice Plant Fundraiser. Our raffle was extended until December 23, 2020. We will announce the $1000 winner right before Christmas. A new ice plant will cost us anywhere between $250,000 and $300,000. ... If you’d like to purchase a square to help us work towards our goal, feel free to message us or give us a call at 780-625-5429. It’s $20/square. We have moved sales to Facebook as it’s difficult to go around selling squares at this time. We’ve attached our squares raffle below! You can see what’s already taken and what’s available Thanks again for your support of our club! We are very grateful!
