As of today's update to the list of businesses allowed to be open, dog grooming is permitted in both shutdown and lockdown zones now!

I can officially open for regular grooming as of February 16th! I have already started getting people booked in, going day by day. If you have asked for an appointment or had one cancelled then I am already getting an appointment for you! For nails I am looking at the afternoon of Feb 23rd. Anyone who needs just nails can get in that afternoon. I will be booking in 20 minute intervals starting at 2pm. I'm trying to work out the best way to let people know what spots are available.

New rules! As far as I am aware, the new measures are for emergencies only to prevent vet visits. For example: if your dogs nails are curling up and are almost growing into the skin. If you haven't brushed your dog and it is now matted and in pain. If the dog has severe hot spots and needs to get those areas shaved. Etc. This does not mean that I can do any baths, or any regular maintenance grooming. Hopefully this will change, but so far I am essentially still closed until Feb 22nd.

Nails!! I hope that everyone will try to keep up with nails at home while I have to be closed. Keep in mind that nails should usually be done around once per month (and more often for puppies). If you need any tips please ask!. Once I am allowed to reopen, I plan on setting aside an afternoon just for nail trims. I'm not sure how I will do bookings for it yet, I've got some time to figure it out. ... Keep brushing, and trying to maintain what you can at home

Since the shutdown has been extended that means I won't be able to do any grooms until we get the okay to reopen. When that happens I will be rescheduling everyone to make sure that the people who were supposed to get groomed first still get to. Thank for you understanding. I have been thinking long and hard about this, and have made the decision that even after all restrictions have been lifted I will not be allowing customers to stay with their dogs for grooming. Of course I will still be doing nail trims with owners present, just not the longer services.

My new grooming table arrived today. I haven't finished setting up the salon for it, but couldn't wait to take a picture! I'm excited to groom all of the medium dogs at the correct height

I am back open but with new rules! Dogs must be on a leash, and then you will tie the leash to the post so that we can stay no-contact. For now, I will not be allowing owners into my house, so the dogs that need help will have to wait a little longer. I will use hand sanitizer before touching your leash/collar, and bleach the post between dogs. ... Payment is either etransfer to 8078630086 or [email protected], or exact change cash only by request, and I will put out a jar to put money in, I will not be doing change. If you, or anyone in your household has been sick in the past 2 weeks then your appointment must be moved. We can do nail trim appointments outside on the deck if the owner (and of course, me) wears a mask. Thanks!

Night 3- black nails. This depends on the length, but look under the nail for the ‘flesh/quick’ this is the area you have to avoid (arrow). Then as you cut look... at the end of the nail. There will be a ‘bullseye’ as you get closer to the quick. This changes in a millimetres, so be careful. Once you see the darker middle you are very close, at this stage, use the clippers on an angle on each side to take the sharpness of a new nail down. Flour or corn starch will stop a bleeding nail. How often? Depends on the dog, running/walking surface, activity level. But the more you do cut the nails, the shorter the quicks become. See more

The snow has melted and the grass is coming out. That means it is time for flea & tick treatments! Contact your vet to get the strong stuff, or visit a pet store / stedmans (if you don't go hiking or to camp) for the household stuff. Dont forget, I don't allow animals who have had fleas or ticks until they have been pest free for a full 4 weeks.

I'm sorry to say that I am fully booked for Spring. My next appointments are in the last week of June.
