Groomers ARE essential

Grooming has unfortunately been revoked from the essentials list and we will be closing from the 26th until we are permitted to stay open. Drop me a message if you'd like to have your dog groomed on the 24th or 25th. I will try and do as much as I can those two days. So sorry everyone

***edit as of 3:03pm, we are officially closed as of the 26th. So here I am this year working the 24th and 25th of December for my beloved pups. Dog groomers have been moved to the essentials list in the grey since our initial closure. As of right now we are permitted to stay open. Stay safe everyone

PSA Some days I just really want to put my clippers down and walk away, I know every groomer has felt this way. The truth is that although working in the ser...vice industry can be extremely rewarding at times it can also be.... not so rewarding. Firstly, Can I just say that I would never walk into a business that offers a service and try to tell them that their prices are unrealistic for the service they are providing. There’s a reason that they are a professional and that’s because they are offering a service that you simply cannot do yourself. It’s extremely offensive and hurtful when a client makes you feel like you are not worth what you charge, keep in mind that the cost goes beyond what you pay at your appointment. For example: 1. We do not pocket 100% of the cost 2. We have rent/overhead to pay 3. Supplies (shampoo/sprays/bandanas,etc) 4. Our time/skill 5. Cost of sharpening and buying new equipment 6. The cost of education (school, seminars, competitions) 7. It’s a high risk job (biting, scratching) 8. It’s extremely hard on the body, therefor regular chiro/physio/massage The point being that when you tell someone you are unhappy with their prices what your really saying is your time and skill is not worth that kind of money. So, it’s fine if you can’t afford and/or don’t want to pay what they charge but maybe keep it to yourself and move on and find someone that is a better fit for your budget or needs. You would be upset too if your job didn’t pay you accordingly for the specific set of skills or knowledge you provide them. Unless you are a professional in the field yourself you cannot tell people what they should & shouldn’t be charging. Just some food for thought If you love your groomer, tell them how much you appreciate them! It goes a long way on those days they really just want to give up
