EASTER WEEKEND HOURS Good Friday - OPEN Saturday - OPEN Easter Sunday - CLOSED... Easter Monday - OPEN Classes are full except for 8am Friday morning and 10am Monday morning. Remember, if you see a W on the schedule, that means the class is Waitlisted, but that doesn’t mean it’s hopeless! Add yourself to the waitlist, a spot might become available.

The good news just keeps coming! Pilates Instructor Extraordinaire (and dear friend) Elisa Sebastian has joined our team of amazing instructors! Elisa brings a deep love and knowledge of Pilates to our studio, and we are SO excited to have her as part of our kick a** team. ... As with all of our amazing instructors, Elisa teaches all levels of Pilates to all humans, will modify any class to suit your body and its needs, and is always eager to help you understand your Pilates practice on a deeper level. You are signing up for 4 weeks with Kelly, one class/week, at a much lower cost, which allows Kelly to get her instructor vibe flowing in the studio setting while we all cheer her on. Well, we were closing for the holidays anyway...what’s another couple of weeks?! Sigh. But! We are incredibly proud of the community we have built in such a short time, and feel so lucky that so many of you have embraced us (and Pilates!) during these wild times. ... We WILL come out of this stronger and healthier, and your Grounded team will be here, ready and eager to get you moving again. If you do want to keep up with your Pilates practice at home, we are all set and ready to launch our virtual classes post-Christmas. Details will be announced later. Memberships and packages will be put on hold, and please don’t hesitate to email if you have any questions regarding your account. Classes are running today and tomorrow as per our regular schedule, with a few additions to accommodate those looking to get their pre-lockdown classes in! Can’t wait to see you all in January!

Trust that your body is capable, and take it slow! Your favourite thing about Pilates is...? I love that it develops a strong mind-body connection. There is an active meditative aspect to Pilates, as you need deep concentration and mindful precision to execute many of the exercises. It’s such a nice break from a stress-filled world! What is one thing about you that people would be surprised to know? I’m a pretty wicked dancer. The running man is my specialty. What do WE love about Kelly? She’s an amazing friend, dedicated to learning and living a great life, and is the hardest worker in town. Grounded Pilates wouldn’t be what it is without her.

I was born on Vancouver Island but grew up in Northern BC in a small town, but it seemed like it was the whole world to me at the time. I also lived in Calgary for 9 years.... Weirdest job you’ve ever had? I cleaned stalls at a barn in exchange for riding lessons and leasing a horse in the summer...kind of a job! Last book you read? Little Fires Everywhere. Pull out the tissues for that one! The best vacation you ever took? When I spent some time in Greece when my oldest daughter was 10 months old. Just her and me on the beach every morning was perfect. Biggest pet peeve? Gossiping! Just be nice. In the morning you can’t live without? Coffee and oat milk! 3 things you’ll always find in your fridge? Hmmm...kale for kale chips, oat milk and leftovers from last night’s dinner. Favourite movie? So many! I love any of the Star Wars movies or any Super Hero movie. The new loft! With numbers on the rise and constant talk of community spread, we wanted to make sure OUR community was safe. Reformers are now divided by barriers, so masks are not necessary once you enter your spot. ... Mat and barre spots are still 6 feet apart, and masks are still required during mat and barre classes, but the dividers down the middle will separate you just that much more. Doing our part to keep ALL our local businesses open as long as we can. #inittogether

Grounded Pilates + Lifestyle 15.08.2020

Friday night and we’re in the Red Zone....okay, so, what does that mean?! So far, under these new restrictions, we are unaffected. The maximum number of people allowed indoors in a group fitness setting is 10. Our group reformer classes are max 3 (plus instructor) and our barre/mat classes are max 4 (plus instructor)....so the numbers are in our favour. ... We opened this studio with eyes wide open, knowing that we would likely face these kinds of restrictions. With that foresight, we worked hard to ensure the studio was safe and clean from the beginning. The plexi barriers ensure you are in your own pod during class. Masks worn to and from your pod. The air purifying HEPA filters capture 97% of respiratory droplets and purify the air in 18 minutes....they cycle all day long. We have two upstairs and two down. Add to that two clean freaks scrubbing and disinfecting day and night. We understand that this is a weird and scary and unpredictable time (boy do we feel it, too!) but your health and safety are our main concerns and we are confident with all of our measures in place. We hope to continue seeing you in the studio! As always, we are here to answer any and all questions.

Happy Thursday Grounded Community! We are so incredibly proud of the Pilates community we have built in the last two months. You have supported and encouraged us as we have worked to bring our vision of fun and accessible movement to downtown Burlington. All during the strange and anxious times we are in. Thank you! ...
