New life on the farm this Easter weekend! Coming 3 weeks early this young mama had twins, cleaned them both up and hid them in the grass. And let us know she was not impressed we could still find them when we came back after tagging and to take pictures. Last year we had unprecedented high fertility in our herd (all calved within 3 weeks and 3 sets twins). Usually we have a couple that don't get bred by the bull on the first month and we'll have calves over 2 or even 3 mon...ths. This looks like a good start to the year! #calvingseason #grassfinishedbeef #goodmothering See more

We're looking for someone to join our crew this summer and fall! Our apprentice fell through so our hunt continues... We want someone to join our team, full or part time, May - early October. Primary responsibilities in garden work with a small amount of animal chores/take including chicken butchering. Working here can include room and board, but more importantly you welcomed into the farm family to work and live with us. (But I think we're pretty fun!) To apply you can go through the @youngagrarians apprenticeship program or email us a resume/letter.

Some years we go to a tree farm, sometimes I just stop at home depot, but this year we found our own wild one! Beautiful day to troomp in the snow and compare all the trees to find the perfect one (or two). Picked one out for grandma and grandpa too. The snow was deep in there and we're all tried (also cause we found a tire swing and a tree fort). Maybe a good night for a movie night. #familyexplorers #makingmemories

Breakfast Time! This is one of our 6 pens of pigs all piled up in their cozy winter bed till they hear the feed pail. Sorry my one-handed camera job along with my one-handed chore job is a little shaky, but you can still sense their eagerness. #choretime #pasturedpork #farmlife

Sometimes it's the simplest meals that feed us best! Baked potato, frozen garden corn, and baked chicken -simply split open, a little oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder and parsley. Baked for 1 1/4 hour at 400'. And you can skip all the tin foil on the potatoes by stabbing with a fork and rubbing them with oil (Thanks mom for the tip!) All under 20 minutes prep time. Beautiful Sunday morning to walk with my family and the cattle on a very twinkly winter day. A lovely substitute for a canceled church service. #grassfinishedbeef #familylife #peacefulday #twinklysnow
