Giant russian sunflowers and purple pole beans has been a successful combination in my garden for years. This year's crop is up, stretching and looking pretty good, (don't mind the bit of slug damage and the cottonwood fluff). Watching these two towering giants support each other is a joyful thing of beauty as well as a bountiful source of delicious food. . #giantrussiansunflower #purplepolebeans #growingfood and #gratitude #gardener #gardening #garden #companionplanting #grateful #growingthings #sunflower #beans #eatlocal #eatlocalgrown #yqq #beautifulbc #vancouverisland #comoxvalley #unionbaybc #growingthingsgardens

#lilac season is in full swing and boy do they smell lovely. This #edibleflower is not only used for it's #fragrance but also it's #flavor #beauty and medicinal properties. The combination of astringent properties and lovely fragrance make it particularly nice in skin creams as well. #chamomile is budding up I love this plant. Though it's most often seen #dried for #tea this #tasty #herb is even better fresh. Not only is the tea ten times as delicious from fresh #flowers but the #greens and the flowers make a nice addition to a salad, wrap or stir fry. Really feeling like getting fancy with fresh chamomile? Try adding a bit of fresh ground chamomile to an apple pie or your fruit crumble topping , or toss some in carbonated water with a couple rose pe...dals and a sprig of lemon thyme for an afternoon treet. So very good. I have also had customers who use it for streams, fragrance or infusions. What's your favorite use for chamomile? . Note; Use chamomile with care if you’re allergic to ragweed, as chamomile may trigger allergic reactions in some individuals. . . #growingfood #growingherbs #growyourowntea #gardener #gardening #garden #grateful #edibleflowers #gratitude #recipes #beautifulbc #vancouverisland #comoxvalley #unionbaybc #growingthingsgardens See more
