Often, we forget that our relationship with food and food choices closely represent how we feel. In fact, according to the 2013 "Stress and Eating" Report conducted by the American Psychological Association, "Twenty-seven percent of adults say they eat to manage stress and 34 percent of those who report overeating or eating unhealthy foods because of stress say this behavior is a habit." As a nutrition coach, it was so important to me to have some sort of mental health traini...ng to support my clients and my community better! Last week, I participated in an 8-hour virtual Mental Health Crisis Response Training to build the confidence and collect the tools necessary to help others navigate their weight-loss journey with a biopsychosocial lens! On top of collecting helpful resources, I can ALSO help you by: Identifying signs of stress & mental health Helping you re-center in the midst of a panic attack Supporting you through suicide ideation Referring you out to the RIGHT type of support for you! Sharing helpful tools for managing stress and mental health Helping you find a local therapist I have also dedicated a whole section of my FREE resource library to mental health resources, tools, & links to professionals! https://www.growinggoddess.ca/freebies And as always, if anyone ever needs someone to talk to, send me a DM! Breakfast only sucks if you don’t have an awesome morning routine that prioritizing an awesome breakfast Routines that will make breakfast more enjoyable: Go to bed early so you aren’t playing tag with the snooze button. This way you have plenty of time to get ready, make breakfast and enjoy it! Plan what you can to simplify your morning. Pick your outfit, pack your bag, shower the night before, or lay out the makeup you plan on wearing, etc.... Have a general plan what you’d like to eat for breakfast this week. Keep it flexible enough that you can change it around if you get bored, but specific enough that you aren’t wasting time standing in front of the fridge asking what should I eat today? Simplify the cooking process by prepping what you can at the beginning of the week Invest in time-saving appliances, like an air fryer (Boxing Day sales are coming!! Keep an eye out for sales in your local flyers) Have your fave drink readily available to you, first thing in the morning. Brew your cold brew or freshly squeeze your orange juice the night before. Or if your coffee maker has a timer, set the timer for when you wake up, that way you’ll have a fresh cup ready, first thing in the morning! #OnMyPlate 1 egg + 1 egg white Air Fried Potatoes Mushrooms & Brussel Sprouts Sliced Avocado Pineapple Pico

For a long time, I stopped eating Filipino staples because I thought they were too unhealthy. I cut out white rice completely because fitness gurus on YouTube said quinoa and sweet potato was better; I probably hurt my mom’s feelings way too many times when I declined her cooking (which I NEVER reject and ALWAYS crave now lol); and I always felt like when my whole family was chowing down on my Filipino faves while I had to cook myself an alternative, boring & bland healt...hy plate The Health/Wellness industry really is led by a White narrative with a small minority of POC representation. I know when I started my journey, a quick search on YouTube or Pinterest always had the same oatmeal, lemon water, avo toast, chicken & broccoli meals - and for a very long time, the pressures to be healthy stripped me of my culture Now, Filipino food is 90% of the food I share through my stories! This plate has the chicken tocino from @gymmin.grubbin When I became a coach, it was so important to me to show other Womxn of colour that we CAN eat our cultural faves and still reach our goals! I’ve worked with womxn from so many diverse cultures and backgrounds and I will ALWAYS be that coach that helps you find a way to fit your cultural faves into your meals! If you’re ready to start reaching your goals AND learn how to fit all of your cultural faves in your diet, make sure to sign up for the Nu-Year Challenge! Just a few more days before 2021 starts! www.growinggoddess.ca/nu-year-2021
