Guelph Gryphons FC Women

TRYOUT: We have an open tryout this Thursday February 21st at 9:00 PM at the University of Guelph's Gryphon Field House. All types of players and positions are welcome, but are in highest need of (1) a left-footer in any role, but striking ability is a big asset (2) a goalkeeper and (3) an outside defender.

Tuesday night we racked up a massive 3 points to help us in our quest to stave off relegation, a big 2-0 win over BWRSL on goals from Brittney Crawford and Lily Campbell that moved us out of 8th and into 7th. Tonight we visit Niagara United at 9 PM, a win over whom would tie us for 4th place. Last game against Niagara United we walked away with an impressive 2-0 clean sheet victory. Go Gryphons!

MATCH DAY! Guelph Gryphons (2-2-4, 5th) host league-leading Hamilton Sparta (5-2-1, 1st), tonight at 9:00 PM at the University of Guelph.

Double clean sheet - Holly Eckerich picks up the clean sheet for Guelph, while U of G goalkeeper Santana Ferreira picks it up for North Miss. A great defensive chess match - neither team got a single shot on goal inside the 18 yard box, and neither team made a defensive error. Probably a little bit of a snoozefest for the unusually high amount of people in attendance, but that's football! #OWSL

For Andrea Borray's last game last night, we put in a truly admirable effort in trying to come back in the 2nd half. Down 1-0, we threw our entire lineup forward and came close to tying it a few times, but with a heavy attack comes defensive risk and we were caught twice on the counter. We clawed one back to make it an interesting finish and we really did play exceptional last night but for the 2nd, possibly 3rd time this year, we found ourselves on the wrong side of the scor...eline despite an incredible effort and arguably being the better team on the night. Great effort by the Gryphons, another loss unfortunately but we have such an incredibly talented new team this year and it's nice to see things coming together so quickly.
