Seed Highlight # 4 Hemp seeds are one of the seeds highest in protein, and essential amino acids, which means they build muscle mass! They are full of fibre, iron, and complex carbohydrates, that give you energy. Hemp seeds have a healthy balance of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids. Some studies show that these healthy fatty acids can combat PMS symptoms! Industrial hemp is a high volume renewable source of quality fibre!... In the 1800’s it was produced commercially all over the world. It was used to manufacture rope, cloth, sails and paper. The introduction of cotton and petroleum products and new processing techniques for these products lead to the demise of the hemp industry in the early 1900’s. In Manitoba, hemp can be grownunder awide variety of climate and soil types! It is highly adaptable, making it ideal for areas of the province that have limited cropping optionsand where high value crops such asedible beans and sunflowers are considered high risk. Hempseed oil can be used in various cosmetic products and it has potential to be used in inks, paints, and fuel! Where we source our hemp seeds; @prairiequinoa @manitobaharvest
