Navarathri begins on Saturday, October 17 and Vijaya Dashami is Sunday, October 25 Temple will be conducting "Sangeetholsavam" in conjunction with Navaratri and Vijaya Dashami. Musicians, students and others who can sing classical songs / keerthans, or play musical/percussion instruments, or perform classical dances will have an opportunity to do so before Lord Guruvayurappan. Each participant will have 15 minutes (maximum). We can accommodate more time (maximum 2 slots) acco...rding to the availability of slots. The event is open to all age groups and is mainly intended to provide an opportunity for students/teachers and aspiring young artists of Carnatic music - vocal & instrumental, and classical dances, to dedicate their talent to Sree Guruvayurappan and seek his blessings. Moreover, this event will provide a forum for showcasing the young talents of our community. Parents are requested to encourage their children to participate in making this event a grand success. Due to current COVID Pandemic restrictions, we have a few additional rules in place this year: No group singing/chanting allowed. A maximum of 2 people from the same household can perform classical dance items and a maximum of 3 people for vocals and instrumental at the same time on stage, keeping in mind the social distancing rules. Singers can have accompanying percussionists with maximum participants limited to 3 people, including the singer, maintaining social distance on the stage. Maximum 5 members from the participant’s household/family (including performers) allowed to attend the program. No additional guests can be brought with them. The programs will be live on GTOB Facebook and/or Zoom. Kindly minimize the duration of your stay in the temple before and after your performance, so that we can adhere to the COVID Protocols set by the Provincial government. Please arrive only 20 minutes prior to your confirmed time slot. Masks are mandatory inside the temple. However, when performing, the participant can remove his/her mask for that duration of the performance. Please note that we may have to change/cancel the programs anytime if there are any tighter government restrictions due to COVID.
