Is your contractor painting all the cut edges of the Hardie Plank while the installation? I've seen many failure ones. No paint and just caulking. When caulking fails, the fiber cement sucks moisture and corrodes. It also voids Hardie's warranty. It's a tidius thing but makes a huge difference in a long run.
