Well, look what the cat dragged in! @bareknucklepickupsofficial
So, I had this little pet project of modifying a @sterlingbymusicman Axis that I traded a while back to my buddy @sachapale. Initial plan was to redo the electronics, even slapping some @bareknucklepickupsofficial in there while at it Then, in a "Galenly" fashion (that's a word now), I thought the back of the guitar looked a little plain, so I took a heater gun and removed the paint. Little did I know there was a protective coating all around it, while trying to remove it ...I accidentally burned the top and nearly damaged the binding. I ended sanding by hand the rest of the contour, that was a doozy I then got to tainti ng the back of the guitar (FYI, finding dyes during full lockdown was a quest in it's own right, though I eneded up ordering directly from @SamaN, a local business with quite seemingly awesome dyes) When I had finished the top just didn't seem right anymore, plus it had been burned at some places by the heat-gun... so, yeah. You've guessed it: I removed it. Wasn't quite expecting to find a sort of weave overlapping the wood, to which the plastic "Flame maple" looking top was glued. The wood that was hiding underneath the top was just straight up amazing! Hard to believe anyone would hide that. Had to resand a few times before applying the dye, but overall I'm pretty satisfied with the result. I'll be applying the lacquer soon, as soon as the pickups get there, I'll keep you guys updated
Well, this was certainly fun! Now on to the lacquer!
What's up guys! I haven't been posting a lot recently but I do have an awesome project coming along this week! Spoiler alert: it involves a Strandberg and some sweet Fishman pickups for a certain Roove member
Des petites modifications, en-dessous du capot!?
