Even under the strain of the pandemic, staff in various hospital departments have come together to support local families in need. For example, our ICU team raised $1,185 in donations of etransfers, cash and gift cards to bring hope and joy into four family homes for Christmas. A wonderful thing done by a special team.

All three sections of our new temporary structure to expand our Emergency Department have arrived! It will take a few weeks to get it up and running. Until then, entry in our Emergency Department will be through the nearby Delhi Street entrance. There's lots of signs to guide the way. A special thanks goes to all those involved and much appreciation to our community for its patience during these past two days.

One of the sad realities of COVID-19 here at the hospital is that we haven’t had a chance to say a proper goodbye as people retired. There were no receptions or even small parties in departments. Cherished team members just packed up at the end of the day and were gone. Between March 31st and October 30th we had 28 staff out of our family of 1,530 retire. Collectively these 28 team members represent an incredible 691 years of service. As our CEO Marianne Walker observed, O...ur mission at Guelph General Hospital is to provide the highest quality care and experience for patients and their families. It can only be done with the dedicated people who day after day bring their passion and professionalism to the care we provide. A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone on this list and I wish them all the best in their life to come. This post does not even come close to honouring their service to Guelph General Hospital but we want to mark their retirement here publicly. THANK YOU for your service.
