Happy Summer, Guelph Community Orchard Project 1st Anniversary fast approaches! To mark the occasion we will be joining the Transition Guelph folks for a potlu...ck supper and celebration on Wednesday, September 11th, 6 pm at 47 Meadowview Avenue, Guelph. To plan for this event, we will be meeting on Tuesday, August 20th at 7:30 pm - 70 Forest Street. Please RSVP to say you will attend. Paul Wartman is leading a workshop on Edible Forest Gardening at the Harcourt site of GCOP on Saturday, August 24, 10 am-noon with a design charette. Participants will learn what has already been planted, go away and do research on what companion plantings would best enhance the orchard and then submit suggestions to us. Acting on the best suggestions, we will complete the orchard plantings on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 14th. Looking forward to seeing you Tuesday evening. Blessings, Jill

Anyone able to help us water our trees this summer? You will only have to help out once or twice! Check out our latest blog post for more details on what is new with the Guelph Community Orchard!

We will hold an Orchard work Party this Saturday, June 1st at Harcourt United Church to do some weeding, watering (if required), and edging around the wood-mulched areas. Gail will be on site between 11-12 noon. The Harcourt veg garden crew will be there from 9 am-noon performing their tasks, so it will be an opportunity to meet and mingle. No need to stay the whole morning, an hour or so around 11am will be sufficient. Please bring spades, gloves, hats, etc. for your comfort. All welcome. See you Saturday. Blessings, Jill
On May 10 we planted a number of trees and plants to add to the Community Orchard planting at the Guelph Community Christian School. We had some amazing helpers, and lots of fun! Now in this orchard are paw paws, saskatoon berries, pears, apples, shrub cherries, artic kiwis, plums, grapes, currants, elderberries, haskaps, and raspberrries. We can't wait for our first fruits!
