happy halfway to halloween folks ! turns out trying to put a zine together when your life has no structure anymore is pretty tough ! so the release of SLASHERS AND FINAL GIRLS is gonna be temporarily delayed ! but that means more time to make it cooler than it's already gonna be so stay tuned !

for the past few months i've been working on this secret little project and i'm super duper excited to announce it'll be out in the world on MAY 15TH (exactly halfway to halloween 2020)! there's all kinds of stuff planned for the release day that you can join in on from the comfort of your own home!

Community zine call out for submissions! From now until July 22nd 2020 we will be taking submissions for our 90s Fandom Zine, We are hoping to raise money for ...the Avalon Sexual Assault Centre in Halifax through zine sales. You can send submissions to [email protected]. We are looking for... - Fanart/comics - Fanfiction - Fanfiction recommendations and reviews - Personal anecdotes -Podcasts recommendations and reviews -Colouring and activity pages - or whatever you could literally even do a page about characters as horoscopes. Which characters have the biggest Leo vibes??? Sure. Have fun with it! All submissions must center around 90s fandoms. Some examples of 90s fandoms we are looking for are Sailor Moon Daria King of the Hill Utena Pokemon Final Fantasy Zelda Super Mario Silent Hill Sonic Evangelion Buffy the Vampire Slayer Cowboy Bebop Escaflowne Nightmare Before Christmas Cardcaptor Sakura Gundam Wing Harry Potter Twin Peaks Dragon Ball Z Beavis and Butthead Ren & Stimpy Hey Arnold ***Any anything along those lines from the 90s.*** *All images must be 300 DPI and formatted to 5.5" x 8.5" * All word documents should be submitted both in a word doc and a pdf. After some time off to reflect on the past 2 years of Guillozine, and the current state of our world, I think the most important thing to do is create a creative semi-distraction to keep busy. So, introducing Guillozine's Quarenzines! We're offering up our blog space online every Friday to showcase creative projects we're making, as well as what you're making. As you may have seen, we canceled Girls to the Front 2 partially due to the current COVID-19 pandemic circulating most of the world. But I have to come clean and apologize for the other reason why I canceled the show. As of our July 2019 "Summer Bummer" show, I have not been compensating our performers for their sets at our all-ages shows. And I was called out on this due to a tweet on my personal account and I am now dealing with the damage control that has to follow. It's h...ypocritical to run a business around the idea of promoting local arts and talent while also not properly paying them for their time. For Girls to the Front 2, there was money put aside to pay performers. At our "Meet the Zine Night" event in November 2019, the musical performers were paid. For clarification purposes, performers have never been promised any payment for taking time out of their lives to play at a Guillozine show. Nobody ever asked before the shows happened if they were getting paid, nor did anyone approach me afterwards. I run this business alone. Hosting a show is a big financial risk, I handle all the rentals, renting musical equipment, venue booking, and more out of my own pocket. Every show I host is a risk. All-ages shows take a lot of time and energy to plan, so I do give myself a small portion of the net profits, while the majority goes directly back to hosting more Guillozine events. In the future, I hope Guillozine is in a better spot financially to be able to compensate performers and bands for their time. But until then, and given the current COVID-19 situation, we will be backing off from hosting any all-ages shows or performance-based events. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation with this. I hope Guillozine can return to hosting shows in the future. I would like to thank all the bands that have ever played a Guillozine show, and any volunteers that have helped out- your participation was greatly appreciated. But for now we will continue solely as what we started off as: a zine. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
