GunnySack Acres 03.12.2020

We are basically done for the season. I'm sorry we couldn't provide vegetables this year but mother nature rules all. We have decided to suspend our Facebook page and enjoy time unplugged. We can still be reached on our Instagram page (its how I connect with family far away haha) @gunnysackacres. I hope everyone has a wonderful summer. We will hopefully see you next year.

Had some company for this year's annual Saskatoon picking!!! He's a pretty damn good picker too!

So many emotions today. Despair, anger , misery, optimism, anxiety disappointment, worry, frustration. I have been up and down all day. I am a big believe in mother nature will do what mother nature does and we as humans have to deal with it. But then the disappointment of no corn this year sets in. No pickles being made. No fresh salsa. Its not just the thought of eating these delicious veggies that stings, our market garden helps bring in a small income that we live... off. We are very small and budget strings are usually fairly tight. We survive by not only selling our goods but its our main source of food all year, helping us having hundreds of dollars in groceries every year. And as we work our ways towards living a zero waste lifestyle and being self sufficient the garden has become a source of survival. I am grieving. And I have to keep thinking that everyone is safe and things could have been worst but the garden was the center of our world and this one storm has shaken my that world. Yes a plant or two may pull through but its disappointing that our bountiful harvest was taken so fast. I've been walking around all evening pacing, unable to focus, I just don't know where to start. But I know life goes on and I'll hopefully be able to grunge up some remains, it just might be later then normal. But that's the last time I'll post about that. Got to move on. Got to get going.
