Guy Architects participated in the 2018 Herc Pull for Special Olympics and pulled away with the Spirit Award. The whole event raised $19,000 for NWT Special Olympics. Well Done Team!

The Kivalliq Regional Visitors Centre is starting to look like a finished building. The interior is all painted and carpeted. The millwork is installed, and the display cabinets, exhibit panels, and the stage for the taxidermies are all in. Only a few finishing details left. The project should be wrapped up by the end of the month. Then we can bring in the stars of the gallery: the polar bear, the caribou, and the Muskox.

This year Guy Architects presented an Architectural Studies Scholarship to a graduating student from Sir John Franklin High School. Tai NguyennHa, who is continuing schooling in architecture at a post-secondary level. This year's recipient grew up with a fascination for art and buildings and later added the love of mathematics. He will begin his future at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology next fall in the Architectural Technologies Program as his first step into this fascinating and challenging career. Congratulations, Tai , on being chosen as this year's recipient of the Guy Architects Architectural Studies Scholarship!

Guy Architects is happy to announce that the Ecole Allain St Cyr Sign is now up!

Hee’s Restaurant Yellowknife, NT This restaurant was designed from scratch with a new commercial kitchen being one of the major additions. The original space was split level, which divided the served space to the detriment of the restaurant. The new design eliminated this level split, providing a ramped access to the washroom. This washroom access incorporated translucent polycarbonate panel clad hallways that featured two sculptural posts within the restaurant. These posts drew their inspiration from Chinese temples and serve to provide a contemporary theme for fine oriental cuisine

Wayne Preparing for the Yellowknife Bridge Building Competition.

Mackay Accounting- Yellowknife, NT Mackay LLP’s accounting offices in the Communications Building were updated in 2008. Working within the clients’ parameters, Guy Architects was able to reconfigure the space to provide each enclosed office with a window located on an exterior wall, as well as increasing the number of workstations. The glass walls and automatic sliding glass doors of the reception area were relocated opposite the elevator. This centralized location allowed for increased accessibility to meeting rooms as well as the conference/training room without disruption to the private office areas.

It’s been an exciting time for Guy Architects as they introduce structural engineering to their list of services. Structural Engineer Richard Guy who is a member of NAPEG. Richard has worked on some of our recent projects including Cavo Condominium Residences and the Northwest Teachers Association. He has also been involved in the design and overview of construction of airports and mining structures in the North. Richard has worked in several countries worldwide as a project manager on large engineering projects; this contributes to his exceptional communication and people skills that Richard brings to the Guy Architects Team.
