Happy Thanksgiving! We’re curious... What are you thankful for? Tell us in the comments! We’re thankful to serve a vulnerable population anywhere from Chilliwack to the North Shore. We’re grateful we get to work with the schools that we do, and build the meaningful and long lasting relationships that we’ve built. This week we hope to show you the reality of the vulnerable youth in Greater Vancouver, and we invite you to do something about it. Join us at YUNite Outside: https://www.youthunlimited.com/yunite

It’s been quite the year for our #mentalhealth - juggling the economic distress, the unknowing affects of #COVID19, and grieving the loss of loved ones, and maybe not even being able to say goodbye. Here at Youth Unlimited, mental health is by far the most talked about topic among our youth. They’re already in such a fast-paced, technological age, on top of it, our kids went back to past addictions, coping mechanisms, anxiety and depression. We ARE part of the change and we... constantly journey with youth to a healthier mental health state and awareness. Send a little love to your neighbours! They need it more than we think. #WorldMentalHealthDay

It’s incredibly encouraging that schools deem OUR youth workers essential for the teens’ well being. We’ve been helping youth manage their anxiety through the changes of this year. Youth have struggled to make new friends in their cohort and navigating the new way of doing school during #COVID19. We continue to offer them support by going for walks and helping them process what they’re feeling. We are SO grateful to serve in these schools across Greater Vancouver and support the students.

This past Saturday, there were cyclists riding and hikers hiking 10, 25, 50 and even over 100 KM to give more opportunities to youth who’ve fallen through the cracks. Together, we raised $14,305!!! Thank you to everyone who participated, whether it was by getting active or donating. You’re influencing vulnerable youth by increasing the awareness of their needs in our local neighborhoods, and partnering with us to create long lasting change. #RideforRefuge #bikefundraiser #youthunlimited

#OrangeShirtDay: A day to commemorate the journey of survivors and their families of the residential school experience, and to show commitment to the ongoing process of reconciliation. We work to fill the gaps in the system, and take the next step beyond food and shelterwe’re providing relationships. Our staff are committed to journeying with Indigenous youth through the brokenness of generational pain from past injustices. Through caring for physical, emotional, mental, so...cial and spiritual needs, we see the potential of transformation and reconciliation. If possible, wear an orange shirt today to show your support. #EveryChildMatters

A few months ago, when we had to adapt our programs virtually in response to the outbreak of #COVID19, Creative Life Vancouver drove door to door handing out art supplies to youth that were confined to their home. Connecting through livestreamed art tutorials, we could reach vulnerable youth wherever they were, and right at their home. The response was incredible. We reached more youth than before! Many of our partners teamed up with Creative Life Vancouver to bring more at...-risk youth art supplies which increased the amount of youth we were reaching. Thank you to all of you who have partnered with us in supporting youth through the toughest times.

For youth ageing out of foster care, ones’ 19th birthday is a not the normal ecstatic celebration it is for other teens, but instead something these youth most often dread. During a global pandemic, with fewer job prospects, less support services and significant uncertainty, the future can appear bleak to many of these youth, who will be cut off from government support. However, we are pleased that for now, the Government of British Columbia has announced that those in care and those participating in related programs, will be allowed to stay in their placements past their 19th birthday. From the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU! Our 30th Annual Golf Tournament raised a whopping $102,000 thanks to your courageous generosity! Sure, it was different with COVID-19 distance protocols, but from smiling golfers to gourmet dinners, exciting Hole-In-One prizes, generous sponsors and donors, it was an incredible day raising funds for vulnerable kids. We are filled with personal gratitude to all of you who came out to golf for our kids. We couldn’t do what we do without... you.
