October at Gwen's Handmade Creations Fall is here and I hope it finds everyone ready for the season. The Studio is open it's usual hours with all the proper Covid Practices in place. What's New in the Studio? Fabric - I have 100% cotton fabric available by the 1/2 yard and yard in a variety of patterns for making masks as well as the skinny elastic and wire nose pieces. I have masks for sale as well ($6.00)... New felting fibres will be arriving soon from a new Canadian Supplier. Workshops for October All workshops will be held at the Douglas Street Recreations Center https://www.truro.ca/douglas-street-recreation-centre.html Masks are mandatory upon entering the front doors . Read covid procedures, sanitize hands and sign waiver before proceeding to Room A where workshops will be help. Space is limited payment upfront by stopping into the Studio or e-transfer to confirm you are attending. October 5th - Monday from 10:00am to 1:00pm Pumpkin Table Runner Cost: $85.00 You will have all supplies needed to complete a 29" Table Runner. I think we will be able to get to at least start to use the blanket stitch to attach the pumpkin pieces so that you can finish adding stitch work on your own. What you will need to bring is a working Iron and two or three tea towels to use as an ironing pad. Everything else is supplied. October 10th Saturday - 9:30am to 12:00pm Needle Felted Pumpkins Cost- $20 ( three pumpkins) One felting needle will be supplied with extra on hand to purchase. You will have more than enough fibre to complete three pumpkins. If you have your own felting needles and pad that's great. October 19th Monday - 10:00am to 12:00pm Wet Felting a Nuno Scarf Cost:$90.00 Silk Chiffon and lots of coloured silk and merino to choose from. Finally got pattern and kits put together. It's a great day to stay inside and slow stitch. Pattern /Instructions is available in the Studio for $15.00. The whole kit with everything needed to complete is $75. Open all week.

Did some dyeing of all the wash wool from last week. Lots of pretty colours for customers to choose from. In door drying, not sunny enough to fully dry outside this week.

I've been working on a new Punch Needle Pattern/Kit for the Studio. Pleased at how it turned out. The whole kit is available for $32.00 not included is 8x10 frame or 9" hoop or embroidery punchneedle. All threads, wool felt backing, 1 yd of lace trim and pattern drawn on weavers cloth with instructions.

Last of the fleece all washed up to today. Getting it done while the summer sun is still here.

Finally got my felted landscaping from the Felting Retreat two weekends ago. Heading canoeing tomorrow in Kejimkujik. Have a great long weekend, see you next week.
