#repost @ellieblack_ A little #MondayMotivation: Growing up, bars was my worst event and I also didn’t like it very much (probably because I wasn’t very good at it haha). Now, it’s become one of my stronger events and I enjoy flying on bars! ... So, some things I learnt were: -Working so hard towards something feels amazing when you achieve it or make progress with it. -If you only do the things you’re good at...then you’ll leave a lot of stones unturned and never know your full capabilities

When you’re an instructor or coach of gymnastics, you have the ability to change a child’s life in one hour. Because you don’t know when the kids come to the classes, where they’ve come from. You don’t know what their life is. But you have a whole hour to make them feel good about themselves and to make a difference. That sums up my philosophy. It’s what I believe," says Canadian trampoline legend Val Johnson who was recently inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame. Val's contributions to the sport of trampoline are many -- and this awesome story about her induction, sums them up perfectly! Huge congrats Val on this tremendous achievement, and thank you for all you do for gymnastics!

Fantastic piece on coaching an athlete in transition from Trampoline and Women's Artistic Gymnastics coach Denis Vachon. "I take great pride in knowing that I contributed to this young woman’s life in a positive way. As coaches, that is really the main thing we should strive for." Three years ago today Ellie Black and her coach David Kikuchi captured Canada’s first-ever all-around medal - - at a World Championships at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal! And on the same night, Brooklyn Moors and her coach Elvira Saadi took home the Longines Award for Elegance. A truly remarkable night for Canadian gymnastics and we had so much support from our Canadian fans in the stands - thank you!
