I’d like to take a moment to personally say hello and re-introduce myself. My name is Teo. I’m the owner and face behind gyökér hair evolúció, Oakville’s exclusive Scalp Spa. First of all, thank you for taking a moment to read this post. (It’s pretty interesting) A little about me: I was born in Romania. My family came to Canada late 80’s. My first two languages are Romanian and Hungarian. So it was befitting to name the spa gyökér hair evolúció. (Translates root hair evolu...tion in Hungarian) My husband, motivator and business partner - gave me the courage taking on this new journey. It couldn’t have come at a better, or should I say, pivotal moment, in my life. I had been working in the beauty industry for over 12 years for some incredible brands as Regional Trainer, account executive, makeup artist etc. Traveling a lot and eventually burned out. You know when your mind and body just says enough. Well I was there. And as a mom and wife - let’s just say I was not myself anymore. I needed a break. So the Universe answered.... Fast forward to New Year’s Day 2020. This is the pivotal moment I mentioned above. I landed (literally) on my ass. So hard that I fractured my back. No joke. Happy new year right? After hours in the ER - MRI confirming I was to be still for the next couple months and wear a back brace. My entire world changed. So very thankful to be walking, I began my recovery journey. (Little did I know, it would be 4 months in the back brace) So, with the help of my husband. I entered the new journey. We decided I couldn’t go back to what I had been doing. We decided to focus on a business of our own. But what? where? How? I knew about Scalp facials for a couple years, had discovered this incredible place in Toronto called Odjibik. I was a client and trust me, I needed it. I suffered from seborrheic dermatitis (SD) since I was a teenager. Using and trying every type of shampoo and ointment. When scalp facials became part of my new routine, the relief from the itching and flakes and scabs was unreal. So, with empathy and from real experience, I knew I wanted to help others. The only thing holding me back was fear itself! To be continued....

We understand your concerns, so we have outdone ourselves in preparing our Scalp Spa for you! The safety of our staff and our clients is essential to us, so we may continue to provide 1st class service in a safe environment. Read on to learn what we are doing and what you need to know to prepare for your visit. Here is what WE are doing to prepare for your visit: - Cleaned and/or disinfected all surfaces and implements using a professional service; a disinfection expert train...ed in both hospital and office disinfection protocols. - Laundered and/or disinfected all capes and continue to use Canadian Linen Towel Service. - Removed any non-essential items throughout our business. Sadly, this means no coffee bar, or waiting area. - Initiated contactless methods of scheduling and payment. - Acquired appropriate personal protective equipment to be used when necessary. - Re-trained our staff on essential infection control and hand hygiene practices. - All staff have obtained a certificate of completion for Barbicide Covid-19 Training. - All staff up to date with Ontario Workplace Safety and Prevention guidelines. - Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocals in between each client. - Limiting appointments: only allowing 3 clients in the spa at the same time providing proper social distancing in between chairs. All staff & clients will wear mask. Here is what YOU need to prepare for your visit: 1) Wash your hair the day before your appointment. 2) Please arrive 5 minutes before your appointment and txt or call us that you have arrived. Please remain in your car or outside, we will let you know when to enter. 3) You will be asked to sanitize your hands upon arrival, remove your shoes at the door and wear booties provided. 4) You must wear a fresh clean mask during the entire time in the spa. If you should require one, we also have them available for purchase. 5) Please leave all personal items at home or in your car; only bring in keys, payment method, phone, and a water bottle. 6) Wear a top with a wide neck, which will allow us to perform the massage portion. You will be asked to complete a pre-Covid screening 48hrs prior to your appointment.
