This panel discussion features Gzowski alumni who have taken the college motto, The minds of the future are made great beginning today, and put it into practice. Our guests have moved into their post-Trent lives and careers with passion, integrity, innovation, and a deep sense of community and philanthropy attributes that the Gzowski College community ...helped nurture and develop along the way. Our Panel moderator will ask our guests to reflect on their past experiences as Gzowski College students; on how that has informed their present; and what they envision for their futures. Bad news: the outbreak in Gzowski College has meant our chick hatching will not happen in the office. Good news: the chicks are at College Assistant Alison’s house and they are starting to hatch! We were deeply saddened to learn that Trent’s founding president Tom Symons passed away on January 1, 2021. Professor Symons was an ardent supporter of the collegiate system. He remained interested and engaged in the Trent Colleges and loved to hear about what we were doing! He attended dinners and events whenever he could and he loved meeting students. Professor Symons was a kind, elegant, compassionate man. He was a great conversationalist and he had an incredible memory. ...He was also funny! He agreed to a selfie with me, at his 90th birthday party. And, I love the photo of him breaking ground as Champlain College was being constructed- bulldozing away, in a suit, while smoking his pipe. Professor Symons will be deeply missed. Everyhing we are today came to fruition thanks to his early guidance and vision. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
