This winter we are having several local writers hosted for writing retreats in the Haig-Brown House. Each is being partnered with a former Writer in Residence for some mentoring, and being given some time to write in the study. The first writer to participate was Kurtis Scriba. He has written a guest post on our blog about the experience.

One of Alison's favourite birds, and one of the easiest to watch too, is the dipper - more proper people than Alison and her father sometimes call it the water-ouzel. We recognize there is a lot of uncertainty about the future right now, but we are hopeful that we can run the Writing Residency next winter as we have in the past. The application information is on the website and applications are being accepted until March 5. Please tell your writer friends!
