Hello to all my lovely clients! I've been procrastinating on writing this post because honestly... I don't really want to write it ... but, after a lot of thought, and with the state of the world having a new narrative every day, I've decided to take a step back to refocus and regroup while I work on figuring out my life plan for the future. I'm going to take the opportunity to spend more time with my family, as well as focusing more energy on my newest baby [email protected] (if you know anyone needing brand developing, coaching, graphics or web design, HMU!! Check out our portfolio on our website for examples ). I will still be doing hair, though I will be in Kelowna as of September, and I will still be taking appointments in Vancouver through August!! Vancouver has my heart, so we know I'll be back some time in some capacity, but for now, it's time for a break. Welcome, to the future of hair. Dates may have been announced, but we are far from ready. Everything is back ordered until mid June. Still waiting on face shields and proper masks (I had this one kicking around), and that’s only the beginning. Thank you as always for your continued patience as I do my best to keep you and I both safe and healthy please also consider your hairstylists if and when you see them, being with the public in the way we are expected to in order to maintain our livelihoods, we give up easy access to our friends and family. People will now have to decide what level of contact they give us outside of our jobs, so please, be kind #bekindbecalmbesafe

Dear Government, this is serious. While I appreciate you feeling it a time to crack a light joke, it's not. These are our lives and livelihoods you mock with your laughter, passing it off as something that's "being dealt with" when you're offering non-inforced paper-thin guidelines that are being posed now more as suggestions than anything when you've alerted the public to a re-opening, forcing us from our places of safety to apease the public demand that you're no doubt grow...ing weary of. I get it, but don't you dare tell me "we are all in this together" when you speak of giving restaurants stronger guidelines than you're planning to give to us. They spend moments with their guests, we spend a lifetime with ours. You tell us to "follow what others in the industry are doing" when they are as lost and as scared as we are. You have openly asked the blind to lead the blind, and you'll say your government did all they could do in their power when we start dying. What then? We're already the industry you forgot when you took away our licensing bodies and standardizations because you didn't feel something as important as TRADES wasn't worth upkeeping, and now look... we have to beg you for information, you get annoyed when we do, and then in the same breath you tell us WE have to contact YOU - meanwhile you've told us and WorkSafe about the intended re-opening AT THE SAME TIME. WorkSafe... the ones to be putting the plans in place, has about as much planning done for this as we do. Zero. It's time to just come clean and tell the truth - you were pre-emptive, and as a government you mis-spoke, and it's time to take it back now. #Vancouver#BCGovernment

Hey Everyone! I wanted to touch base and say that I hope that everyone is doing well, staying safe and healthy, and doing all that they can to take care of their mental and emotional health through these insane and trying times. As you all know, Hair by Carver has ceased hair services as of March 16th, and continues to do so pending the government's easing of restrictions. While there is talk of the beginning of a lift on restrictions, until we have a clear understanding abo...ut how working in such close quarters will resume, how long we are able to have a client in a chair for, our expected practices etc I do not feel comfortable as a business owner or service provider to be bringing people in to unknown conditions. That being said, I'm extending my closure for the foreseeable future, and will revisit the option of opening closer to the date of June 1st depending on how things go regarding the government. Although I am already Red Seal Journeyman in Cosmetology, which is the highest government recognized trades licensing in Canada, there is a chance that we will have to be certified and re-trained with the new measures that they will be bringing in. Furthermore, from a morality standpoint, and as the son of a care aide on the front lines, I wouldn't feel right about potentially taking away PPE and other equipment from our health heroes in order to do hair for the time being. So, until there is no longer a shortage of disposable PPE and we are able to readily get it for ourselves and for our clients protection, there's a high likelihood my books will remain Thank you again, and to all my frontline workers on my client list reading this, an especially big thank you to you!
