@fordnationdougford announced yesterday that we are entering another lockdown as of midnight. All upcoming appointments will be cancelled, and rebooked in priority once good ol’ Douggie gives us a firm reopening date. This has been an extremely hard time for all business owners especially in the Toronto Area. Salons have been unfairly targeted, dismissed and lumped in with gyms and restaurants. As much as my heart breaks for all business owners, our Trade is the only trade... still closed. We have been denied any sit downs with any leaders to discuss how we can stay open safely. We are in the same proximity as Massage and Physio so please spare me your Comments about the physical distance angle. We can screen our guests, wear the proper PPE, and disinfect between each client the exact same way. The beauty industry is 80% women #fairnessforwomen and the industry as a whole is unfairly being treated like we are not Professionals. I pay my licensing/trade fees annually. I am trained and certified in proper disinfection. I update my skills to the tune of thousands of dollars every single year to remain up to date. We are more than just a hairstylist, our guests share more with us than their own therapist. We have been with you through your first haircuts, prom, wedding and first baby hair loss, new job, divorces, second weddings and everything in between. Just think about how much time we invest in you to make you feel amazing on the outside so that your inside can shine through your new style. It’s not Just Hair. This lockdown has affected myself and most of my dearest friends in the Hair Community. I have done my part by Staying Home and being a responsible citizen and I want this Virus gone. I am not being selfish by wanting to provide an income for my family. Most of you that are getting full salaries and working from home are the lucky ones. But if you think a flat screen TV at Costco is essential or that Toy for your kid at Walmart is necessary but you honestly believe that taking one on one appointments or a small shop allowing 5 people max with proper protocol is more dangerous than your grocery store then please get your head out of the sand.

2020 what a year. Felt like it went so slow but here we are at the start of the new year. I am so grateful for the support to Stay Gold Salon. It’s my dream come true to have my own business.
